I've been reading the site for a while and have been wet-shaving with a DE for two weeks.

I have a closely-trimmed goatee. I use an electric trimmer to keep it short. I use the DE for my cheeks, under my chin, and to clean up the gaps under my lower lip.

I picked up some brand new DE razors in a market in Brazil for under $3 (US) apiece.

I used PHEBO "Odor de Rosas" glycerin soap directly on my face (like a shave stick) for my first DE shave. It worked surprisingly well and has given me my best shave to date. Unfortunately, my wife isn't a fan of the scent. I might make a stick out of it for travel use.

I bought a VDH boar brush from CVS. It was the only type easily available locally.

I usually use Williams Mug Soap or my PHEBO, but I have some VDH Deluxe with Shea waiting its turn.

I'm experimenting with different ways to get a good lather. I can't match the videos yet, but each attempt brings me closer.

I build my lather in the mug when using Williams. I use a glass bowl when I use the PHEBO with my brush. The bowl sits in another bowl that is full of hot water to keep my lather warm.

I couldn't find a brush/blade stand locally for under $70 so I made my own temporary stands. The first one left a bit to be desired. It was made from parts I had around the house. The second one is actually pretty good. It's made from a candle holder and a metal spatula handle. It works pretty well for now.

I use Brut aftershave and then Nivea Sensitive After-Shave Balm for my post-shave routine.

Prior to going DE, I used a Mach-3. I never got a good shave, even with new blades. I'd have visible stubble in hours. I got so tired of fighting a losing battle that I just let myself be stubbly and shaved only once per week. It was better to look intentionally stubbly. Now I can keep the stubble at bay by shaving every other day with my DE.

Thank you all for this wonderful resource. I'd probably still be "shaving" with a Mach-3 if it weren't for B&B.

Welcome to B&B. I, also, was on the shave once a week and deal with stubble routine until about 4 weeks ago. This path is much better. Enjoy!
