View Full Version : What Pets Have You Got?
I am a confirmed animal lover, and I just realised there has never been a discussion of what animals everyone has. So, how about it? What pets currently share your home?
2 dogs, beautiful white female Golden Retrievers.
I used to have a bunch of other animals in the past, piranha's, rabbits, 3 dogs at a time, birds etc but now I wanted to have some "rest" at home. ;)

I used to have cats but no longer. I like being able to take off whenever I want to so there's not much chance of me getting any more pets now.
Two sets of twin cats. The two black ones are Cameron and Trevor; the two orange ones are Simon and Oliver. I am not like the Crazy Cat Lady from the Simpsons. Promise!
3 eight year-old cats, one of which I've had for 26 years.

I had a doberman, It's been 4 years now since he passed away, but it feels like yesterday. I'm not planning to have a pet at the moment since I want to be pretty mobile, but in the future when I settle down I'll get another dog, most likely doberman.
My choice of pet seems weird now you guys have all posted. I am a keen reptile hobbyist, I have a large number of snakes (mainly pit vipers and pythons) and lizards (mainly geckoes and varanids.) I also help fund and maintain a private research facility that keeps Marmosets and Tamarins as well as many more reptiles. My biggest pet is a 9' long New Guinea Crocodile Monitor (Varanus salvadorii for all you taxonomy buffs)

I am on your side. I know I was never good in math but, maybe I am missing the formula here.....x + y = z :001_tt2:

I have a solid black Goldendoodle named Cooper.
He is half Golden Retreiver and half standard Poodle.
Basically, he is shaped like a golden retreiver with soft black curls. People often mistake him for a Portuguese Water Dog.

one male betta red and blue and his name is Tululu, don't ask!! my wife named him, I have no idea what that name came from.
I have a 91# male, yellow lab, Service Dog. My grandson named him Scooby. He is 4 1/2. His best trick is to pick up a dime off of a hard floor and put it in my hand. When I told that to an out-of-state friend who owns a chocolate lab, he replied, " that's nothing, Bo can make change "

I have an Albanian hunting dog named Cobweb.
She looks like a small lab but with short white hair and black speckles, like a Dalmatian but less speckles. They're an old hunting breed in Albania but she's terrified of guns since she went through the civil uprising there in 1997. I got her when I was in the Peace Corps there, she was a gift, and quite a special one I found out. They are very sought after dogs in Albania, and come from one small area of that very small country. She's a good dog.

We have two basset hounds.
This is Melvin. He is a 10 year old male. He came from the North Texas Basset Rescue Association. An excellent watchdog with excellent hearing!

And this is Flora. She is a 1 year old female which also came from North Texas Basset Rescue. She loves to lap up the remaining drops of Shiner Bock beer from the bottle after I pour a cold one!

I tolerate my wife's two obese cats. One of them is so clumsy, she falls down the stairs at least once a month. It is truly pathetic.

I too have a Golden, but don't know that I've seen a "white" GR--do you have pix?
One more with the ever popular Golden Retriever. Her name is Boogie, she likes to dance. My dad had a pair or white goldens that were just gorgeous. Their hair is a cream color very near white when they are puppies. The coat yellows a bit as they grow but they remain much lighter than the standard goldens. If you have pics by all means let's see them. Actually that's not a bad idea for all of us, let's see them men! Here is mine, still trying to figure out how to resize so bear with me.
Cheers,
Jeff
Yeah, that didn't work. There was a thread awhile back on how to resize, can somebody please point me in the right direction?

I normally should have some pics at home. I'll try to find them and upload them once I get home.
I concur with the proposal to start including photos!
Hello,
look at my avatar, but this two aren't my own, that are the dogs of my sweetie:
Collie "Sheila", 9 years old and Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (Toller) "Autumn Angy of Great Pleasure, short: "Angy", 5 years old.
Two absolute great dogs...

The above is 'true,' and made me a believer in reincarnation.
Cat #1: Big Guy--tuxedo cat with 4 white socks lived 18 years. It took 3 kittens to replace him.
Cat #2: Cinnamon Girl--now 8. The obvious color, tiny, smart, and fiesty.
Cat #3: Keith--also 8. Red and light brown tabby named after a dead R&R piano player with red hair. Gigantic solid cat who is truly a big guy.
Cat #4: Libby--8. Arrived two weeks after K and C. She is a solid black spittin' image of Big Guy with the same taste for spagetti sauce, Pringles, glazed donuts, etc. She purrs clear through [U]Workingman's Dead[U] just like Big Guy did. Same bone structure. I am convinced he booted the soul out of this little black kitten and came back to us (therefore 26 y/o). Libby doesn't like to talk about it, though.

Richard! Those 2 dogs are sooooooo cute, my God! My sister-in-law has a 3 month old Basset puppy, and whenever we go over to visit, the little thing comes over to me, and when I lie down on the couch, I pick her up so she can sleep on top of me!

We had a beautiful Sheltie when I was growing up. I'd love to get another, but alas I live in a high-rise apartment and thus no dogs allowed.
I'm allowed cats (up to 2) but at a $300 deposit and a monthly $30 pet rent... they are too expensive, though I wouldn't mind having one if it weren't for the rent increase.
I too have a Golden, but don't know that I've seen a "white" GR--do you have pix?Hey Mitch,
There you go, some photos fresh from the press (taken 30 minutes ago):
Here is Zhara enjoying a 30C sun here in Belgium:

And here is Mona who prefers to lie down on our terras out of the sun:

Both of these are females, come from the same mom and dad and are approx. 3 years old.
I guess I don't need to explain how much I like em. :001_smile

My two schnauzers:
The first is an 8.5 month old "large" miniature schnauzer (weighs in at around 22 lbs.) that my wife received for Christmas this past year. Her name is Sophie and she is salt and pepper with a mostly gray back and lighter underside. The second miniature schnauzer, Belle, is now almost 8 weeks old and is pure white. She has yet to get her hair cut and will thus be going in tomorrow for grooming. Belle's parents are both around 20 lbs and so we expect her to weigh in around 20 lbs as well. Since picking up Belle a week ago, the two have become best friends and tend to play all day long.
I am hoping to add a standard or giant schnauzer at some point in the future, probably 5-10 years as my residency won't be too conducive to training another dog.
Does anybody here keep any exotics like me. I'm starting to feel a little lonely amongst all the dog owners here.
Love the look of those "white" Golden's--very pretty!
Here's Abbey the Wonder Dog; dumb as a box of rocks but friendly as the day is long--and great with kids! She's hanging with her friend Josh, the B&W guy.
When we got her we were told she was a Novia Scotia Duck Tolling retriever--clearly she's just a small female Golden Retriever--maybe mixed with something to explain her size and pink nose.

I have two hateful, spoiled cats and more recently, adopted a dog. She's part lab, mainly chow chow and very sweet. The cats are not pleased...
MItch,
Your dog has a pink nose because of licking it while young :) LOL
My purebred yellow lab also has a partially pink nose. I met some folks in an elevator once that told me his nose was pink because he licked his nose too much when he was a puppy. Dave and I knew not to look at each other while they were still in the elevator to prevent laughing.
Sue
I have a 3 year old Lab Mix (I don't know what he's mixed with) named Buddy. He looks like a Lab but he only weighs 60 lbs. He is a great dog and is very good with my 2 year old son. The only problem with the dog is that every couple of months he pees in the basement.:frown:
