Hi guys,

Have many of you used a coticle dry?
Many of the old texts mention it, I was wondering what your experience has been..
Hows the edge?
Doesn't the metal clog up the stone?

Natural stones aren't porous in the same way f.i. a Norton is, so it doesn't really clog up with anything.

I've used my Bout dry. It behaves like an even finer grit and it doesn't clog at all as the stone doesn't have pores. The abrasive is the garnet embedded on the matrix.

I also have had great results using my coticule dry for a quick refresh on a razor's edge. And, when honing, I've found wet, then dry seems to polish the edge even more than just stopping the polish process using water.

I've only tried using a coticule dry on a few razors, but, in each case, I found using it dry made the edge less smooth and no sharper than plain water (with no slurry). Others have had different experiences, so experiment with your own coticule.
