Hi Joel,
Always wanted to try/buy this one, but no opportunity. I have heard the fragrance is delightful, but it lasts fleeting moments at best... So tell me, did you make it out of the "shave den" (aka bathroom) before it faded?
BTW, you have run out of PM space. :frown:

The violet combo was so soothing and relaxing - I just had to repeat it again.
Ron,
The Ajaccio Violets lasts several hours on me - much, MUCH longer than Extract of West Indian Limes. With that said - I think Crusellas Violet is just an out and out better scent, and at 1/10th the cost. I will not buy the Trumper Violet cologne.
On the other hand there are a few Trumper Colognes that are REALLY taking my breath away that I think I am going to have to pick up - especially with Robert offering 10% off!

Joel,
Thanks for the answer. As an aside, while you are thiinking of propping-up GB's economy :biggrin1: , I really enjoy Curzon and Marlborough... Might not be bad purchases to round out your formal scents. One of these days I have to try Astor..

Joel,
Slightly off topic, but what size "blade" do you prefer in your straight razor?
Randy
Randy,
For awhile there I was in the "arms" race with all the other straight razor users trying to get the biggest, baddest, heaviest thing out there. I have have had just about everything out there, from an 8/8 filarmonica, to an 8/8 puma - but when it was all said and done - I came to the conclusion the best out there is a 5/8. It is the optimal mix of size/heft/comfort, and manuverability. Anything over a 7/8 is just big, frumpy and imprecise... they work well - but at least for me, take the elegance, precision, and delight out of the experience.
I have a few custom ivory handled razors that are jaw droppers.... but I never shave with them. I have pumas, TI's, Henckels, you name it.... but I find the only "real" straight razor I shave with is my 5/8 Stainless Steel bladed Dovo Genuine MOP. The REAL MOP has so much life, beauty, and soul to it - it really comes alive when it touches the strop. Just a marvelous experience - without question my favorite shaving implement. I was planning on making a 7 day set of them, and basically using them exclusively - but last I checked, their price has gone up considerably - I think they are around $200 now... I paid $125 from fatcatenterprises for a spankin' new one about a year and a half to two years ago.
So to sum up  a long answer to your short question - I personally prefer 5/8.

Joel,
Thanks for the reply. Very descriptive AND educational. SO, why do I still want a 7/8?

Another week begins.
I know this response is a little late, but I couldn't help but notice that cute little tin of McClelland Frog Morton. If you are a devotee of the gentle art of the briar, we have much to discuss. In fact, I may have some unusual aged items that you may find interesting.
Ever post on tobaccoreviews.com? I haven't submitted anything for a while, but my posts have usually generated positive responses.

I have poked through tobaccoreviews quite a bit, but never posted. Glad to see another pipe smoker. Since it is frigid winter in the NE, my pipes are mostly resting (I can only smoke outside), but soon it will be time to indulge again. I am a devotee of the classic English Blends, but I won't turn away a fine Virigina either :001_smile . Perhaps another pipe thread in The Barbershop is in order.

If there is anything in particular you would like, let me know. I probably have it. For English blends, it's pretty hard to beat GLP, although a host of others come to mind. I have plenty of VA's, as well. Many of them were sent to me from folks around the world who- for whatever reason- enjoyed my posts and valued my opinion.
Don't hesitate to ask.
