Are you counting two or three syllables in moments? Perhaps it's just my personal pronunciation.

As far as I understand, in the US, we have adopted the 5-7-5 Haiku.
1st line - 5 syllables
2nd line - 7 syllables
3rd line - 5 syllables
Doesn't have to rhyme.

J
Well, traditionally a haiku counts sounds in a 5-7-5 format, but it also contains a season word. Rhyming is unnecessary, but a good haiku will use all its words as effectively as possible to paint a picture. For example, one of my favorites:
Flittering, flying
Darting in to strike. And then,
just as you blink, gone.
It's about a dragonfly in case you're curious.

Well, traditionally a haiku counts sounds in a 5-7-5 format, but it also contains a season word. Rhyming is unnecessary, but a good haiku will use all its words as effectively as possible to paint a picture. Also don't forget that the 5-7-5 format is intended for the japanese on, and I understand that in general Japanese is a lot more suitable for poetry with rules like that (more short words, perhaps short and expressive words, something like that?), while is can cause really stilted poems in English.

Smooth cheek brush awake.

I hope you don't mind if I post a non-haiku. This poem started my whole de/straight interest. I shaved one morning and it was onerous and I was feeling miffed at the price of the damn Mach III blades, so I wrote the poem below and then shortly after found myself on Google looking for alternative shaving options. Now I own a badger brush, 4 DEs and a shavette, with a Dovo "Special" on the way. (Can you say "RAD"?)
Here we go:
On Shaving
Things have changed since Chekhov
(Russia, eighteen-something) wrote,
"A man without a beard
is as strange as a woman with."
Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday
I lather up, soon bleed,
and dull another blade. The cost:
three dollars each.
Then towelled like a boxer
I emerge and Jane inspects:
her three-year cheek checks if
I have erased all bristliness.
I hate the shaving, my naked lip,
but I'm not allowed to go
like Fidel, Papa, Santa,
a wild-man, maned, face warm.
The world's silent censure
drives me to the sink.
Babies don't like beards, I read,
and pretty girls find them old.
It seems last century the sexes
made a hair-razing pact:
if he'd do chin, she'd do shin
(or other parts I'm told).
Ah, if it's for a smooth caress
along a tibial spine,
it's worth a shave stigmata.
No complaint from Gillette.
"But it's just shaving,"
say those who don't know better.
My response: "it's art."

Gustatory desires
But please, don't lick them.

Back in the day we went through a period where people's SOTD's were accompanied by a haiku. I think I started it off with my homage to my Savile Row brush:
Bristle tips like clouds
My eager visage awaits
Soft, fragrant lather
If you search, you can find more in the B&B history books.
Edit: I also found this beauty:
Almond, oily nut
My face awaits your caress,
