Off to London again this week so a trip along Jermyn Street will be on the agenda. Last time I popped into a very small, corner-shop chemist at the end of one of the arcades off Jermyn Street. They had Prorasso products (all of them, I think) as well as Tabac shaving soap. I think I'll make a point of getting some stuff from there. I'm thinking Tabac soap and Prorasso Pre / Post.

How's it going?

As far as my cheeks and under my nose, very well.

The razor has had some minor issues with rusting pretty much out of ignorance on my part in not realizing it was not stainless steel but there does not appear to be any problems with the blade edge.

I picked up a basic Tony Miller strop and I'm getting a bit more comfortable using it in the morning but I'm nowhere near perfect or fast.

I tried to shave the side of my neck and that went well, but I really need to do some research before I try a neck pass. Hand positioning on my right side is great since I'm a righty, but the left side is frustrating since I never use that hand for anything and it seems to block my field of view worse than on the right.

No regrets or anything, but I'm full into climbing the steep learning curve.

I've been on-the-lookout this past year for an FWE "Otto Deutsch" -- the first one I ever saw was as mint as it gets, and those translucent-green scales blindsided me. Sadly, so many have been damaged: idiot scratchings on the scales, heavy and uneven hone wear on both blade and spine, and God-knows-what-else, and I've yet to get one of my own. But even if I did, it would be for naught: every one I've seen has been a 5/8 full-hollow grind :frown:

But I'll damn-well be a voyeur!!

Really awful build quality, almost embarrassing - and a stupid idea to use sandwiched steel on a razor. It shaves nicely - but nothing "holy grail" like. For the money - a big time rip. This is most certainly my last Livi - I wouldn't have picked this one up if it weren't for the steel.

Yep.... I actually think I like the standard A/S one better :rolleyes: I'll take some good photo's of the A/S damascus and you'll be horrified. The scales are crooked, the blade protrudes from the bottom of the scales when totally closed, etc.

I have been using the Bic Metal shavers for the last 3 days - each time with the traditional face prep, shave cream with a brush, etc.....

Well, continuing the testing to see if the Bic would make the grade for a travel razor, I used Prep pre-shave, then the hot towel, then I used KMF Key Lime SC BRUSHLESS.

Well, even on day 4 with the same Bic Metal, the shave was one of the best I had ever had. And considering yesterday's shave left alot to be desired using Tryphon Lime SC[first version which is too hard and too close to soap a for me]and my KIN 079J, it has me seriously reconsidering this whole brush and DE routine. Stay tuned.
