Gents, post your scores for the week here!

I posted this in the Pic section as well.

Anyways, my mother gave me some old shaving gear that my Grandfather used back in the day, and I was wondering if anyone can give me any insight to how old this gear is. Or maybe a brief history of these items.

Sorry the pics aren't large or of good quality, but believe it or not, I am one of the few that do NOT have a digital camera as of yet! I used my phone to take these shots.

Razor: It says on one side, "Adolph Blaich with an arrow underneath those words and San Francisco." On the other side it says, "Sclincen Germany & an x with a design on it."

Hone: It's smooth & Dark Brown and on the bottom is reads, "Franz Swaty Marburg, Austria"

Strop: It says on the top, "Warranted Sea-Hog or Sea-Mog Brand" And on the bottom it reads "Belmont"

Now that I am so into this wetshaving fun, I was excited to receive a part of my Grandfather's history of shaving gear. Nice items to display in my shave den just for remembering him.

These razors wich I scored I wanna share with you and I have some questions.

The Slim adjustable and the Rockets are in a very nice condition.

The one in the middle is a Gillette made in England and sold in France?
It says on the upper part of the handle "IMPORTE D'ANGLETERRE"
There is a patent 3.29756-363892 the second digit is fainted.
I like to know wich model it is and how it may shave.

The fourth is a very heavy french razor (I bought the lot from France) marked CF cs

On the right a german slant razor EMPOR drgm

I couldn't find any info about the last two, any is welcome.

Trumper Rose shaving soap
DR Harris Almond shaving soap

I made a trial lather with both of them and they are definitely keepers. I'm not really big on Almond but I like this one. It has a very nice, spicy scent.

My Tub of QED Violetta arrived from a member of this forum today. I opened it up and the scent hasn't overawed me yet, but I will reserve judgment until I shave with it tonight. I also got me some samples of 1805 Cream and the full ultimate comfort line from T&H

Well I had been saving myself for the B&B Essential (I'm still getting one!!), but I just happened to be at the Galleria today which just happens to have a C&E. Plus you can never have too many brushes right? And I couldn't leave without one of their shave soaps. They also just happen to have a Body Shop there so I decided to try out their shave cream.

My score is rather large this week

Bought 2 British Rockets, 1 black-handle Gillette Tech, a 23mm Shavemac silvertip & matching stand, 100 Derby's, a block of Shavemac oliveoil soap, eShave Mandarine shave soap & green tea cream, P160 shaving soap, Palmolive shaving stick, La Toja cream, Prorasso green in über-large size, 4711 cologne, a tub of Kiehl's lite flite, and a set of Hydrolast goodies to try Methodshaving (sans Shavemaster, yeah, I know).

Waiting for B&B brushes to become available. /me shakes fist at sky

P.S. This is all your fault.

It could be intervention time.

Intervention, no way - just sets the bar higher for the rest of us!

Seriously though, its interesting how your purchasing patterns change with time. When I was a newbie, I bought tons of soaps, creams, razors, blades, strops, stones, etc... Since then, I've trimmed the heard (still need to sell of some straights) and slowed down considerably.

I'm hoping this will pass.. :D

I've got this rash for less than two months, now I have 40 razors, 4 straigts (one in the post yet), over 2000 blades of 11 different types, 2 types preshave, 11-12 types shaving creams, 7 types shaving soap, 5 types of afterhsaves, 7 different hones, etc.

I'm new on pre-shaves now, just bought the proraso pre/post, and antony sport preshave oil, trying to find out how to use that.

After a week in Rome, I ended up with this. Not sure if this counts as wildly indulgent or too-disciplined.
http://img216.imageshack.us/img216/8397/italyspoilskw5.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

the knife (top of photo) was a matter of necessity. We had an apartment and both knives were too dull to cut butter. There is a cool story behind it, though - I searched for knives but didn't know the proper name for a knife until I asked for one in a supermarket - the stockist I was talking to gave me a blank stare, and a young lady called it a Coltello. Well, the next morning I'm sipping cappuccino and see a Coltelleria right across the street manned by an 80-year old man who also had straight razors for sale (nothing I couldn't live without).

I picked the Victorinox and he sharpened it. I thought he ruined the edge, until I started cutting tomatoes. Holy cow. They fell apart. The man knew knives.

Yep, it was the 150g tub, too. The Prep was 1.90 EUR for 150g, and it's comparable in quality to the Proraso, with less menthol.

Prices do vary, though. Some supermarkets and perfumaries had it as high as 3.20 EUR

wow, I have to pay 12.3EUR for one tube of proraso, I found one on ebay for GBP 4.99 though.
And the pre/post I paid GBP 7.49..

I guess we should maintain some shoppinglist somewhere, so we know where to go for vacation. I guess there should be enought to lure the swmbo off to, while stocking upp on shaving supplies.

The other two brands, the black one (is that Prep?) and Marvis, are those specific to italy?, Or do they sell foreign stuff cheaper also?

Went antique store shopping today and picked up a few razors, then after i went to my grandfathers for his birthday supper and told him about my day and lo and behold he gives me two more. The ones from my Grandfather are the two in the bottom left. D1 SuperSpeed and Schick Injector. Very happy about that as now I have a couple family heirloom kinda deals.

I'm not quite sure myself :), but some refer to "blue ip" and "red ip".

I bought some IP in boxes, 100 in each, which have white/translucent paper with blue text, I guess that is what some refer to as "blue ip", I just hope that the red packages you have does not look the same on the inside..
Well, I guess I find out to the week, when I expect my blades.

Good lord that's a lot. As for the other brands, Prep and Marvis are also made in Italy - Marvis, though, is toothpaste but it's made by the firm that makes Proraso. Great stuff. Outside of the Italian goods, it was hard to find anything else - Speick was nowhere to be found, for instance.

It's a Stahly Live Blade. It's a vibrating DE, like Joe said. You wind it up and off it goes. :)

A new tub of T&H West Indian Limes and a jar of Honeybee Bay Rum soap. Still waiting for my Tabac in the jar to arrive - my dadgum internal mail delivery here at work has taken a couple of days before to get a package from the mailroom to my desk!
