Gents, last year I purchased the Badger & Blade limited edition brush in Silver Tip. Although I liked the way the brush felt against my skin, I found it too floppy for my taste. It sat in my shave den unused for months. I contemplated selling it but I was fond of the handle and gold medallion.

I finally decided to send it to Bernd at Shavemac. I am fond of the Shavemac line of brushes. I also had him rebristle a Rooney for me last year. It took approximately 3 weeks to get it back. He did not charge me until I was satisfied with the brush.

The brush is now dense and stiff enough to use with soaps. The brush is still soft enough that it does not feel scratchy on my face. With shave creams it explodes with mounds of cream. It loads up with water for effective face lathering when using soaps.

I highly recommend Bernd and Shavemac for rebristling. I am very happy with this brush and will keep it for many years.

How much is his rebristling service? I have me a vulfix #41 mop which I can't sell so I may consider sending it to him for servicing.

The cost was $90. It is not cost effective for common brushes. It's worth it for higher end brushes or one of a kind brushes.

I really like the way the vulfix handle feels but the bristles are just too damned soft and floppy

You know I thought about doing the same thing, but haven't yet. I figure someday I can get twice what I paid for mine as it was B&B's first. I hope.

NICE! I've contemplated doing this myself for quite some time.

I don't want to start a movement but I have two B&B brushes (finest and standard silvertip) and I occasionally contemplate doing it for the standard. The finest is dense enough for me and pretty special so I don't want to mess with it. But I occasionally think about getting the silvertip rebristled (finest is OK but standard is too floppy). In this fantasy I would go with a fan shape and probably have a shorter loft than the original B&B. I still want to keep it as a fan shape because I like the overall lines of the B&B brush with the fan.

I got this idea from a member that did this a while back. I PM'd him about the experience and got some great info.

One reason I would do this is that I'm mostly into face lathering soaps these days & my B&B brushes aren't getting a lot of use. I don't have what you would call a huge collection but I feel the B&B brush handle is the best manfactured handle in my lot hands down (Vulfix, Simpsons & a Custom shavemac) so I want a version that will go back into my rotation as Austin did.
