Since this seems to be what all of the lurkers do after a while...
The annoying yellow Windows-esque warning at the top of the screen upset me for the last time. As an avid Macintosh user, I abhorr anything that resembles Windows, so I registered to avoid it. Here are some things about me:
I'm 20, a current student at UNC-Charlotte, and I haven't started wetshaving yet. I am using a Schick Quattro (qute possibly the worst razor ever invented, but the cartridges are cheaper than anything Gilette makes when you use a handy $3-off coupon in those great little books at Walgreens), but I recently bought the double-edge safety razor from www.shavingfactory.com, and I can't wait to use it. I've read a lot on wet shaving, so I kind of know what to expect.
I have used Barbasol and some type of cartridge razor since I started shaving a few years ago. I have tried many of the gimmicky gels and such, but I keep going back to Barbasol. Maybe the fact that it costs as much as a box of ramen noodles, maybe the fact that it seems to be one of the few creams I've used that don't irritate my face. The gels do irritate my face horribly.
Once the new razor comes in with the 5-pack of blades, I'll be looking around for some more accessories if it strikes my fancy. I'm sure it will; I'm so cheap I can make a dollar squeak. The thought of buying enough blades to last years for the same price two months' worth of Quattro blades would cost sure is making me interested.
I've read many reviews, and it seems that some people like the Personna blades from Wal-Mart? Is that a fair assumption? I also hear good things about the Derby ones that shavingfactory.com sells, so perhaps I will buy some of those when the time comes.
This has become far too long for an introduction....and it's almost 4AM here in Charlotte (early night for a college student), so I must be off to bed.
