I just bought a Star Double Edge Razor. I thought I would just use the handle to create a FrankenTech, but it shaves too well for that. The blade gap is just a tad more aggressive than a Tech. My Tech is .022" and the Star gapped at .023". I've been very happy with it. The grip is fantastic.

.. the handle is neato! I was very surprised on what a nice shave it
gives, and one doesn't have to worry about proper blade angle to boot!
Now only if the blades were cheaper :tongue_sm

My local pharmacy carries the tabac aftershave lotion but not the soap, which is a pain.

Just thought I would sneak a hat in there I have a fair collection. Its a real workhorse I wear when out beating or walking in heavy rain. Used and abused but I think it looks better like that.

since I posted these pics in the safety razor section I figure I'd post them here also.. picked this set up last week for only a couple bucks. Check out the razor blade itself and how much design is put into each one.. very art deco.

I pulled the trigger on an auction that nagged at me for a few days. I emailed the seller and described a British red tip and how they function and the seller replied that it was a normal red tip. I figured I could gamble with $25.00 and put in what turned out to be the only bid and won a jackpot!

Here is the auction photo that I couldn't get out of my mind, the red tip looked funny and I could tell the Schick was an "E" type.

Here is what was won.

Really cool heavy British made GEM:

Canadian "E" type Injector with a butterscotch handle:

British Red Tip Rocket:

The rest of my Tuesday foreign razor haul.

A mint cased British Tech with an interesting handle and a German made Knack/Slim Twist.

The postie has just delivered to me a lovely sampler from Colleen at TGQ. For the price I don't think there can be a more generous sampler out there. I love all of the scents, notably desert ironwood and sandalwood, and i guess I shall use these exclusively until I have sampled the lathering properties with each soap and cream. I'll sneak another hat in... Just cause!

Let us know how you like Colleen's soaps (I'm a huge fan).

The sample pucks can be a bit of a PIA and I use them like a shave stick, which I've found easier than trying to load a brush by lathering on the puck.

The sandalwood is very good as are her all-EO scents.

I've just used the bay rum w/ sweet orange, and I have to tell you I want to smell like this forever. My 1st ever sniff of anything bay rum, and the lather was beautifully moisturizing and slick. What more can you ask for, my face feels superb

Foreign razor week continues. Today I received a super cool 4 piece Canadian Tech from CanaDEan Shaver. Thank you! Why would they quit making something so unique functional and compact and why wasn't it more widely available when they did make it? I can't stop toying with this neat razor. I also got an English made Parat from the 'Bay.

These are all from ebay, with the exception of the Gillette NEW, which I found in a junk store.

In order of appearance:

1959 Fat Boy (E4)
1966 Super Speed (L3)
GEM MicroMatic (?)
Gillette NEW (30's?)

This isn't the prettiest Fat Boy that I've ever seen...it has some brassing on the doors and a few scuffs here and there. It seems mechanically sound, I'm looking forward to giving it a whirl!
http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=11290

http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=11292

This Super Speed was in pretty bad shape when I got it from ebay, but it cleaned up pretty nice. Really lite wear, no brassing.
http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=11291

http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=11293

I've still not used a GEM, although I have a few. This one is in really good shape, just a couple of pits on the head.
http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=11294

This NEW is in really good shape. The open comb scares me a bit, but one of these days I'll try it out.

I went to the Ft Wayne flea market and managed to find what looks like a 1904 Double ring in box (box has seen better days), a 1917 Tech Set (silver, pain in the rear to polish!) and a container to use for my barbicide (which is really just an old glass soda straw container). Grand total = $16! Of course I took pictures too.

Today's outing netted me three new razors. None of which may be usable.

On the left, a Gillette fatboy adjustable (no date code, but it has a notched crossbar). It has cleaned up nicely. The adjustment knob clicks cleanly and smoothly. Only problem is the rust on the top of one of the silos (not visible). Even WD40 is not removing it. If I can find some other way to remove the rust, I'll try that.

Next is a 3-piece black Gillette Tech Contractor (at least per Country Joe's website) with original box. It may have been an army issue. Except for the black that's faded from the top, it's in great condition. I may try shaving with this.

Finally, a Gem razor in original case with an empty blade box. This razor looks near-mint. It may have only been used for the three blades in the box. It appears this uses Gem single-edged blades (like the Blue Star). If so, it might be worth a try if they shave well.

Brent, You could be pleasantly surprised at how well those Gillettes clean up. Might be a bit of brassing on the Fat Boy but if the mechanism works and the blade is properly aligned when you crank down the silo doors you'll have a fully functional, classic shaver. Good luck and post cleaned up pics if you can!

Well I've gotten some T.N. Dickinson's Witch Hazel (walmart) Nivea a/sb Skin Essentials, smells a little more sporty than the "energy" brand, havn't tried it yet though.

Also I got these two Gillette razors
The Travel razor I believe to be a 1967 Gillette Tech and the other I think is a 1942 Gillette Tech

Now I know what your thinking with the travel razor case, Pink! I don't care what you say, it's manly.

As for the other case, It's pretty much "worn out" I don't know if I should ditch it or just take the razor out of it and atleast keep the case.

Gillette Tech - no date code - I think it's circa 1948. Nice shave but a little too mild for me.

Is there anything to identify the age of that?, I have two like this, one silver/chrome, and one gold, exactly like this, no datecode, and the etched logo on the head.

I also have one with "gillette" embossed in the head, silver, I guess that is much newer.
