I recently started using their Circa notebook (letter size) and really enjoy it. Their ruled paper is great quality and I love the column on the left hand side.

What I am very surprised about is how much I enjoy using their 3x5 cards and "Pocket Briefcase" that I got on a whim! These things are great. My Moleskine Cahier fits perfectly in one of the pockets so if I jot something on one of the 3x5s that I need to have with me for a long period I can simply transfer it. However, I'm not worried about cluttering my notebook now so I find I take better notes with the 3x5s. So much of my note taking is really more 'to do' type stuff and previously I hated wasting pages in my Moleskine with stuff that would be obsolete at the end of the day.

Just seeing what experiences others have with these products or similar products.

Note: I should say their paper is great compared to what I'm used to. I'm sure some of you use products that put it to shame.

I have been and still am a customer- more years than I can recall. Very good stuff- and always happy with their products. :thumbup1:

Love their products, but man are they overpriced.

After muddling around with Moleskines, index cards and whatnot, heres the system I've been using successfully for a few years now.

Black and Red Hardcover notebook
One usually lasts me a year and I carry it to every meeting. Its the right size, great fountain pen friendly paper, indestructible, and they can be bought for $3 and change from places like http://www.monstermarketplace.com/Business/Landing282a28569.html

- front of book to back - 'To Dos' coded by [In date][delegated by][delegated to]
- back of book to front - Meeting Notes coded by [date][organizer][topic]

So a typical entry in the front of the book will read:

2/8 DG MF - Create outlook calendar quick tip
2/8 DG - Find French speaking Word trainer

A typical entry in the back of the book will read:

Expenses
Levenger Pocket briefcase with graph paper index cards. Stopped using it as a 'pocket briefcase' because the damn thing makes a great wallet. The minute you put your credit card in there, the 'woops, I left it in the conference room' factor goes up a notch.

Personal Observation, Notes, musings, etc
Moleskine Cahier (or equivalent). Easier to get to if in my messenger bag briefcase or pocket, than to have to fish it from the wallet. Small enough where if I use it to keep notes about what I'm reading, it can become a bookmark.

Those Black and Reds are certainly the right price, but I sure do like the flexibility that the Circa offers. Much like the 3x5s, being able to rearrange or remove allows me to be much more liberal in my note taking.

I've been a Levenger cstomer for years. Their products, though premium priced, are top notch. I've seldom been disappointed. And when I was there was no hassle about the return or exchange.

I will say that I tried the Circa once and it wasn't to my liking. I prefer the double wire sidebound notebooks that I pick up at OD.

I purchased a small photo album from a stationery store. The front and back cover are made of lightweight timber and the photo pages were a black cardboard that you string on to a ring binder. I threw away the cardboard pages and inserted my own branded paper. That was around 10 years ago and I've taken it to every meeting since.

Cheers

Like others, a satisfied customer for years. I can't work without their notebooks and ruled paper. Fantastic, if like me, you use a fountain pen.

I have been a fan of circa for a long time. I write a lot with a paper and pencil
and when I teach always organize my notes in the standard circa
with the partially ruled and blank pages.

I also use a Rhodia notebook. I have a pocket sized version which
rules my life and a larger reporter style which I use to take to talks
and meetings.

Rhodia are a good deal fyi. Good paper and good price.

I used to be a regular customer, but they don't carry nearly as much variety as the used to. You used to be able to buy almost everything from them - Parker, Lamy, Pelikan, pretty much you name it. Now, everything seems to be their own True Writer brand. It may be good, but its not like being able to choose from all the world's best. :bored:

I love most of their stuff, but I bought a Circa planner to try out, and I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. Plus, the paper in the planner is definitely not fountain pen friendly. I carry a Moleskine planner now (despite what some people say on Fountain Pen Network, I've had no problems with the paper as long as I'm using a fine-point fountain pen), and for notes I use the Black 'n Red mentioned above. FWIW, I find the Black n' Red to be the most fountain pen friendly paper of all mentioned, and the cheapest. You can find it at Office Depot as well.

I have been shopping from Levenger for years.

My True Writer Golden Tortise ballpoint is excellent. I have replaced the ballpoint ink with gel ink and it writes wonderfully sort of between a ballpoint and a fountain pen. Soft and smooth. It's really nice and writes wonderfully to boot. I really like not having to press down to write as you have to do with a ballpoint, especially since I do a lot of writing.

Levenger's service has always been terrific and products are unique and interesting, although a bit pricey. Nevertheless, I think the True Writer pens are quite a bargain if you are a pen collector.

I have used the shirt pocket briefcase for years now. Lets me jot notes on the go, tasks, ideas, etc... I bought another to replace my orignal a few months ago. They didn't make the cordovan color anymore, and the new one is so nice.....I can't bring myself to use it! DOH!:001_rolle
