A little bit of reading on this board and some Marine Corps polishing and I had a bit of understanding on how to clean these beloved razors. I do need an id on them; I know one is a 1920 because it says Pat. 1920. Here are the pics:

I know that some of you are thinking that the second shot in each set has better lighting and makes the razor look good: this was not done on intention because the room got dark so I turned on the lamp. Also, this weekend I was thinking about writing a step by step with pic. tutorial, what do you all think?

Very nice job Paul...They look so nice all cleaned up don't they?

Hey I would mind seeing a step by step from you. I sure many folks here would enjoy it.

Ray,
It is amazing the difference in when they clean up! Only thing I will tweak is the addition of toothpicks and getting the right amount of Maas on there. I will be polishing the razor you sent me over this weekend.

Toothpicks are great for working the corners.
I usually re-scrub after I polish to make sure all the polish film is off and then give them a quick buff.

Awesome job Paul. I thought you might have used your AP brush and some CLP to polish them up.

I think the last razor is a black tipped Super Speed. Did you get them in the area?

Negative Nate,
These were purchased by my mom in Florida. I did find a possibly place in New Bern called Poor Charlies or something. I will be up there Saturday and be sure to let you know and add it to the vendor list on here. The CLP Brush would be good though and maybe the barrel brush. Was that brush brass?

I really need to pick up some Maas. I have a Flare Tip Rocket that really wants some attention.

It looks as though nobody has given an ID of the razors. The first one is not original. The handle may be 20s but the head is a tech. The original head was an open comb and probably had two indexing pins. Check the bottom of the head for a letter and a number. The second is a late 40s type Super Speed. My guess would be around '51 for date of manufacture. It would have a W and a number on the bottom.

Paul,

My parents live in Arapahoe, across the Neuse from Cherry Point. Next time I'm down there, I'll be sure to check out Poor Charlie's.

I identifed the second razor as a 1951 2nd quarter. Does anyone know what the head is on the first razor?

I'm no expert, but it looks like the handle on the first razor is from a New Standard. They're gorgeous razors and on the heavy side. I have two of 'em myself and I'm always looking for more.
