I've read a thousand threads on what is your favorite razor, but what about a thread listing the MUST TRY AT LEAST ONCE BEFORE YOU DIE razors?

So what are they...Ranger Tech...Toggle...Rocket...what?

Thanks,
Christopher

Silly me. Always in the Gillette mode. I forgot about the Merkurs. =)

Ooh! What about the 195?

Well all of them.

I'd add a red tip, Bostonian and a fat boy.

I can't believe I left out my favorite razor, the President.

Well all of them.

I'd add a red tip, Bostonian and a fat boy.

I was aiming for the rarer and more luxurious razors, and the Bostonian is a nice addition.

(Of course...the Red Tip, Fat Boy, and 1940s SS are automatically on the list.)

I'd have to say an HD Rocket myself.

A Gillette New and a Merkur 25C (a new New?) I ordered one Monday from Lee's Razors.

A 195 and a sticky.

I just want to see if the hype is worth it.

Can see myself ever needing or wanting a razor past my HD and Futur.

I just got and used my '30's Aristocrat; Open comb tto about the weight of the red-tip! It's one to add to the short list! :thumbup1:

Love to try a Sticky, simply because I couldn't justify the big bucks they command when I could buy so many excellent new razors for the same.

The Merkur Slant. It's unique.

If you like Fatboys, try to get a hold of a Toggle sometime - similar to Fatboys but even heavier and the Toggle switch makes for a longer handle as well.

For me, part of the fun is trying different razors. I've used most of the different types of Gillettes, put them away for awhile, and come back to them later. What I find is that my technique changes over time, and the razors seem different when I come back to them.

None that I'm dying to try. I have a decent collection of razors, but the only two that I ever shave with are my trusty Gillette 40's SS, and a Merkur HD.

Now, there are a few razors that I covet for my collection, but that is a different matter.

Merkur slant, because its so different from anything else in the safety razor family.

I think everyone should try a Stahly Live Blade at least once. They are really amazing shavers, and even though they sound gimmicky, they are built like a tank.

I mostly use regular DE's but I currently have four of different styles of Stahlys. They simply give a great and unique experience; there's nothing else like 'em.

+1 - got one a few weeks ago and it's slowly becoming my favourite razor :thumbup1:

Yep, it's the smaller "para-military" model - really nice - I actually mail ordered that Spyderco while I was in Ohio with my family last June 2007. Came sharp enough to shave, but I didn't feel like risking plastic surgery
