Hey Jim, is that brush in finest or silvertip? I am thinking about getting a Shavemac, but I am torn between finest and silvertip. Anyone have any thoughts on these two grades of badger?
Cheers, DJ.

Finest is a bit stiffer, and has barbed ends. Silvertip is a bit softer at the tips, and a little bit more flexible. I have brushes with both, and like them all.

Its a Silvertip -I was most surprised at the weight- its at least 2 X's heavier than a same sized Rooney.

Yes, it is an issue of personal preference (and money also a personal issue). Do you want More or Less scritchy? Herr Blos will make any brush stuffed with the same weight of hair, so density need not be an issue.
Now, if you wish to ask me my personal preference, I can tell you. Chances are that you may not have the same preferences as I.

I can't believe it, UPS dropped off two orders at the house this evening at 9:15 p.m.. Way to go UPS!

This Tam Dao is fantastic, I can see why it's been talked about so much. It has a very mild, soft, easy going sandalwood scent. Not overpowering, just right in my opinion.

The other two are from New Orleans Perfume, http://www.neworleansperfume.com/. This small shop off Royal Street has been at it since 1843. I was intrigued by the Eau de Cologne - the European fragrance made famous by Napoleon. Instead of committing to a large bottle I bought the travel sizes. This too is some really nice stuff, a wonderful citrus scent. :001_rolle :001_rolle :001_rolle

3 tubs of Coates Tea Tree shaving cream clearout special.

I tried rehydrating one of the tubs but to me it's not worth it. It lathers up the same as if I didn't rehydrate it. I'll just use them as a soap, smells and lathers very nice just the same.

major scores for me yesterday & today...

while walking around boston store i noticed a 75% off baxter products and asked if this was true. the kind sales person advised it was and rang up my baxter order which included:

baxter travel bag
(2) aftershave balm
baxter scrub
shave cream

for a whopping total of $12!

i also made the trip down to speak with one mama bear in person as i could not figure out what scent to purchase. i brought my son with me and we had the best time! sue is just great to speak with & we shared a beer and some laughs. guys - i smelled just about every soap she made & one cannot really go wrong with anything she offers. i would have walked away with one of everything if i had enough $$ with me. i did stay away from the dragon's blood but it smelled GREAT. i did pick up the black code & spellbound woods.

yesterday my ebay purchase of penhaligon's opus 1870 & english fern arrived sealed and perfect. in madison i scored the C&E brush at a discount since it was the shelf model.

My Arko order from Tulumba arrived today at work! The box contained:

- Arko regular [cream]
- Arko cool
- Arko commando
- Arko sensitive
- Arko citrus
- 2 Arko shave sticks.

So, I bought the entire line for $19 shipped! I took a whiff of everything - smelled pretty nice. The creams smell like the Palmolive cream that Alexander sent me. I'm not so hot on the scent of the shave sticks, though - we'll see. For $2, I figured it couldn't hurt to pick up a couple!

The Taylor's train stopped by my place today delivering the following treats:

- tub of Lavender shaving cream
- tub of Lemon and Lime shaving cream
- tub of Sandalwood shaving cream

These were actually delivered yesterday but to the wrong unit in the building (the mail wasn't delivered by the "regular" guy yesterday - and the substitute mail-women/-men can NEVER find the door to my place, go figure). My neighbour kindly delivered it to me this morning. I only have one problem... I can only use one of these today.

Yesterday the postman left a cube over my mailbox (now i can guess why my previous ebay razor never reached me :mad5:)
After inspection the cardboard cube revelead to contain my ebay acquired Gillette adjustable (thin handle, date code I4, 12.30$ delivered from Pennsylvania to Italy by airmail).:w00t:
I gave it a good scrub with hot water and bubble bath liquid to remove some soap residue then i soaked it for an half hour into a quaternary ammonium solution to disinfect it.
I' will give it a try tonight with a Derby blade and Proraso soap.
