View Full Version : How can I be DE Envious?

v-g

I've some trouble understanding the Custom User Title changes I've gotten the last month.

The two first I understand, but how can I be DE Envious?

Am I supposed to understand the logic or should I just drop it?

Might this be a language issue, again? Me being an alien I mean.

it's not a custom title, it is a new title you get when you fall into a certain bracketed number of posts.:thumbup1:

Ok, I might have sounded stupider than I am.

I know that, and usually that is a Custom User Title. I know that they're not custom per se on here, so I wondered what the mods are putting into us being DE Envious. Does anybody know how they think?

Was that clearer?

The title originated because those of us who came to B&B knowing little or nothing about the wonderful vintage razors out there read the forums and soon became "DE Envious" You needn't worry I was once like you but now I am a "Top Toggle"! Just watch out for the RAD.

Basically in addition to the regular assortment of titles next your name here the moderators seem to have a sense of humor, which is a good thing as this is to be a fun place it is only shaving after all, so be careful what you type as they are always watching (reading) and you may say something either memorable or humorous to one or more of them who really knows and then you'll get a custom title next to your name.

This may be a bit of local humor. Reference to a whole lot of talk that's happened about Barry Bonds setting a home run record in baseball, but having used steroids, and whether that means that there should be an * next to his record in the record books, to signify that he might have cheated a little.

So, an * here means you are suspected of post doping to get you post count up.

base = radix : (numeration system) the positive integer that is equivalent to one in the next higher counting place; "10 is the radix of the decimal system".

baseist sounds like racist - your preference for changing at tens instead of different numbers.

lastly base player,
base sounds like bass - As in bass guitar or bass fiddle.

I want to move to Norway, does that count as a valid reason for interest? The fact that your government seems to be able to manage their money is nice too.

The word here is seems.

Norway is run very different from USA. Take our welfare for instance. It's kinda free. The wages are higher here, but we pay a lot in income tax. Up to 50%, if you're unlucky.

Norway is a very rich country because of the oil and all the taxes, but the government don't want to use the money.

We need better roads and better hospitals. The majority of the health care system is run by the government and the minister of health care (or whatever it's called) recently said that she wouldn't accept the fact that the health care system used more than their budgets. I mean, wake up and smell the reality, stupid woman! The generation soon to be retired (and soon to be older) are a lot bigger than it's been before. Hence, the health care system needs more money. That was only one of the reasons why the system needs more money.

The roads in this country are exposed to very harsh weather conditions and they need constant maintenance. But are they willing to fork out money for that, no. Not enough.

Other things to consider if one would move here, is this is a very small country, population wise. We're approx 4,5 mill inhabitants and in the capital we're less than 500K people. Since we're so few, the selections of products and services are very limited, compared to US, even compared to UK.

We've tax on everything and even things you wouldn't believe.

Take gasoline. I need 98/99 RON in my car, and that costs about NOK 13,- for 1 liter. (Those of you who know how to convert, are welcome to do so.) Anyhow, that's expensive!

An other example is the price of a new car. Over half of what you pay for a car, goes straight to the government, therefor the car prices are more than double of what you would expect. If you would like to have a powerful car with a big engine, that's gonna cost you even more. The tax is based, among others, on the displacement and the power output. So if you legally want to tune you car, you've to pay the extra tax.

Other stupid taxes are: if you own your own home, you pay extra tax. There's even extra tax on grooming products/toiletries/perfume etc.

In the end, I can't really complain, but it's hard not to.

A bit late in reading this thread, but seeing as how if we were to graph the "on-topic-ness" of this thread, it would look like the NYSE, I have to share a story that came to mind as a spin off of your comment above. <---(Talk about awkward sentence structure. Whoa.)

A great friend of mine is Mexican and while his English (and German) is nearly flawless, there is definitely an accent, so as you read, keep the accent in mind...*

It was the night of my wedding this past summer and during the reception my friend was dancing with my wife. Now, keep in mind neither my wife nor I are dancers in any sense of the word. So there they are dancing. On the one hand you've got this Latin born-to-dance (and dance well) guy moving and shaking and on the other you've got my wife barely moving her feet. Then I hear, "No! No! No! Like theeese. You gotta move your eeps, man! You gotta feeel theee music, man!"

A short while later I see a confused wife and a dissapointed Mexican friend saying to confused wife, "Man,...you suuuuuck!"

:lol::lol::lol:

*probably one of those "you had to be there for it to be funny" type of stories, but what the hell...

Q: Why do programmers confuse Christmas for Halloween?

A. Because DEC 25 = OCT 31.

Since I became a First Lieutenant of Free Samples, I've not gotten any free samples.

Time to do something about it, so to day, my first sample arrived together with some other stuff.
The sample is a Truefitt & Hill 1805 Cologne. That's some strange smelling stuff! Can't decide if it's good or not, girlie or not.

Just remembered something a bit funny.

T&H have a range called Trafalgar, and The Battle of Trafalgar took place in 1805.

1805 was also the year T&H was founded.

Chicken or the egg?
