Hi,
I bought a couple of soap refills and I don't have the original containers (one is Tabac). I have a couple of ceramic holders to put them in.
Can I just put the soaps in the holders without making them fit exactly?
Thanks.

I just keep mine in the small round ZipLoc plastic storage containers.

If you want it to fit use a cheese grater around the parameter, and put the shavings flat under the bowl and put the soap on top. Eventually it will push back into the solid soap form. I,ve done this with C&E soaps due to their tapered design.

**MOLD??
Did I read a post somewhere here about someone concerned with using a square-based puck in a round bowl, and water getting in under the pcuk and making the soap go moldy?
That;s the reason I melted a puck of conks soap (glycerin based) and poured it into the bowl I want to use - to avoid the space undeneath where mold might grow...
am I being paranoid?

I remember a post a while back about mold growing on the bottom of a soap puck but I don't think that is a common thing. A lot of folks keep their soaps in all kinds of containers, different shapes, sizes materials and mold does not come up as an issue.
I think its more aesthetically pleasing and somewhat more funtional if the soap fits the container perfectly so melting a glycerine based soap or "cheese-grating" a triple milled soap into its container is a good move.
One note - this came up in a recent thread and it was mentioned that some vendors do not guarantee their soaps if they have been melted down.

I used the same mug + williams pucks for years and years and years.. never had an issue with mold, and the williams never really fit in the mug perfectly.
of course, I actually USED up my soap every few months.. which I know is an alien concept around here...
