That works best with soap and cream? From my collection, it would have to be the Simpson Duke 3.

Rooney 3, 1 in Finest. I think the Super is a little soft for soaps, but this is a marvelous brush to lather in the bowl or on the face. The Finest has firm bristles that will pick up soap, and is a little scritchy on the face, which I fine to be a good thing.

It was the first good brush recommended to me by several members of the site and I couldn't be happier.

Honestly, I quite understand where you're coming from with that as I love my omega (proraso) boar very much, especailly with QED soaps... there seems to be quite the harmonious affinity there for some reason (maybe that isn't very fair, as I am quite the fan of everything QED).

But one brush, huh? wow - I kinda find the question a bit unfair since every brush I got has a particularity about it (or at least I try to purchase and keep brushes accordinly, i.e.: becuase they have a particular character which I like at times).

When aiming for pure luxury I reach for my SR3122, when using creams or feel like usign a larger brush I like The SMF III, I absolutely love my SR Travel Brush (20mm Pure grade hair) [thanks Chris!] I love the soap making machine that the c&e BBB is...

if it boiled down to it, SR3122, no discussion.

My Simpson Chubby 3 in Super does it all, and with such luxury.

I keep thinking of alternatives, but can't see how another brush could be an improvement. But you don't know until you experiment. (SBAD rearing its ugly head.)

What's the name of the left brush? I like the shape of the handle and the size of the brush.

I believe the 2 brushes hanging to the left of the Polo are Simpson Emperors sizes 2 & 3.
I was just asking about those models the other day in a thread.
If I am correct, maybe Eelco wouldn't mind posting a side by side shot of those 2 for comparison.....

This is super easy for me. Heck, I'm almost a one brush man now. Well, two, just because they are both sitting there. But there is a clear favorite, and I would have no trouble getting rid of everything else.

Simpsons PJ3 two-band Super. It is exactly the right size, exactly the right stiffness/scrubbiness/softness, exactly the right fit in my hand, and it looks lovely. What more could I want? I only keep my other brushes around because I already have them, and a little, less expensive one is nice for travel, when I am willing to carry one.

Thanks Eelco - I think you already fit in very nicely here.
Looks like your Emperors are one 2-band and one 3-band.
Whenever I get around to buying a Simpson, it's definitely going to be an Emperor - still torn on which size though. I do like small brushes but neither of them look too big.

thanks again & welcome to B&B

I do not no about one but I am going to settle on 2. I just sold all my brushes but 1. My Chubby 1 in Super. I have tried so many brushes and realized the only one I truly enjoyed was the Chubby. I also came to see that I like small brushes. So the Chubby 1 will be my soap brush and now i am searching for the perfect small cream brush. Looking for a small brush but on the tall side that is unbelieveably soft over stuffed in a tulip shape. The search begins.

The E2 is a pretty small brush. Significantly smaller than the CH1. I love the loft, but wish it was about 2mm wider in the knot. I may end up getting the E3.

On a different note, I've never been to Amsterdam, but aren't drugs & prostitution legal there??

Eelco

Lot of people think drugs is legal by law in the Netherlands. No way !!!
The Dutch drugs-policy is that softdrugs is illegal, but endulged.
Harddrugs are Illegal and Forbidden.

Prostitution is everywhere in the world, in Amsterdam "we" have the red-light district.
It's legal if de girls pay TAX

I hate drugs !!!
And no need for prostitution !

Yeah - It must be a touch frustrating that your city, which I understand has a great deal else of interest, is most widely recognized for drugs and prostitution. Seems rather unfair.

I've been thinking about this, ironically, since I'm considering thinning the herd.

Probably Rooney 3/1. Maybe, honestly, my EJ BBB? (It really is a great workhorse; though, I'd certainly be willing to put the B&B Essential to the test...).

Nick

Thats too bad, these "games" are enormously helpful for those of us who cannot afford BAD, RAD, SAD, and whatever other AD allows for people to not have favorites.

EDIT: my tone seems like I am cranky about it; I don't mean that. I just like when people can pick the ONE brush that is the must have all around brush to have (regardless of cost). I am not a AD type; I have collected 4 razors, but I only use my HD. I like to find the ONE for each hobby and move on. I sometimes have to shop around to find what I like, but after I find it I don't need to buy duplicates. (this is why I have a handful of razors, one brush, a handful of fountain pens, etc). I can understand the draw of collecting, but I don't have the money, space (or a patient enough wife) to really make me want to collect anything.

You must travel to Amsterdam and to the Netherlands as a whole to get a real feel for the beauty of the country. I've been there quite a few times, and have never found a more beautiful country or more attractive, affable people.

As to Amsterdam, there are so many great things to do and see that you will not think twice about the red light district or the coffee shops. They're really under the radar unless you're particularly interested in them.

Hup Holland!

I've not been to Amsterdam yet, though I'm really looking forward to going sometime. I did spend a weekend in the little city of Maastricht, which was just great. It is a fantastic place.
