In addition to the large-ass haul of last week I rather surprisingly landed an unopened bottle of Charles Tyrwhitt Lemon and Cedar AS Balm here on the forum.
Will go nicely with the Mama Bear Lemon and Cedarwood soap I got last week. Saving the inaugural use of my new Vulfix super badger until the balm arrives later this week.

Yes. Not had a chance to try it yet although I did lather it up to see how it is and the girlfriend also used it before me on the legs with her Blue Star:mad3:
Got a Futur coming today I hope and a SR3118 incoming also. Heading out to DC tomorrow for a week or so and will have to wait until I get home to get mitts on the SR :scooter::scooter:

A Saint Charles Shave Package arrived today:
1 Wooden Bowl with Lavender Soap
3 Bay Rum with a Twist shave sticks :thumbup1:
I nearly flipped when I saw Sue's recent post about a closeout of B&B Bay Rum with a Twist shave sticks. Love this scent big-time and never knew it was available in soap/shave stick format. I rarely succumb to irrational exhuberance but I bought her remaining closeout inventory of the three sticks. Smells just like famous B&B Bay Rum with a Twist cream (sigh, twisted bay rum heaven). Thanks as always for SCS"s great service, speedy shipping , etc!
Expecting a much much bigger package tomorrow from QED...........

I got this today from Josh Earl at SRP. I needed a shave sharp razor to compare my couple I have had honed by an old barber locally. I shaved with it this evening and I have come to the conclusion that my other couple are not sharp enough by any means. It isn't fancy. Hell, it doesn't even have a brand on it, but it is sharp. I suppose that's what really counts.
Not pictured: a bottle of Clubman A/S with the 33% more free on the label.

Edders, are you shaving your Barbour coat?
No, I had literally just walked in the door and unwrapped the little beauty. The Barbour was my 40th B'day present from my mummy over in Scotland. Usually i get a pair of Y-fronts and a balloon but she pushed the boat out this time. Got a bunnet in the mail as we speak.
Bought this camera (used) yesterday, as my Canon is out of order...

Both of these were picked up at the local Antique Mall. The first was marked at $55, and after a bit, she dropped it down to $25 with no tax for me. It's actually in pretty good shape, the picture makes the blade look worse than it is. The second one was $10, and he dropped it down to $5 with no tax. It's not in good shape, but I'm looking to try and fix it up. I'm pretty happy with the score, though! Everything else in the pictures is just for looks ;)

There's still bargains out there.I picked up this Fat Boy on eBay for $12.59. Since I wasn't expecting much for that price, imagine my surprise when I cleaned the soap film off and found a shiny razor with the adjustment numbers still intact!

Looks nice, very nice, but blue was about the last color I was expecting. It's a better color than the strange pink I had imagined, though.
Anyway, I know it's a little early to officially celebrate but congrats on pulling this off.

Got 7 cold process bath soaps from a member of another forum,
5 80% olive oil - Will hopefully take care of my dry winter skin
1 40% olive oil w/tallow
1 olive/tallow/shea butter/cocoa butter combo soap
As expected, the 80% soaps are pretty soft, but the other two are really hard. I bet they last quite some time.
Lastly - Got my Rooney style 2, size small in Super w/Ebony handle. Used it for the first time this morning. Verdicts still out on it, don't know if I like it or my Rooney Style 3, size small in Super w/mock ivory handle better. But I got such a close shave yesterday I barely had an stubble this morning. We'll see how it works w/more stubble on my weekend shave.
....now I just need a Rooney style 1, size small w/horn handle and my collection will be complete.....bwah ha ha!

As expected, the 80% soaps are pretty soft
This is likely because they're still reasonably fresh - let them dry out for a couple of months and they will harden up nicely - which means they'll last much longer.
Also, I find that my vegetable oil or glycerine-based soaps last much longer if allowed to dry between uses (so get some sort of soap holder that allows the water to drain off the soap - even better are the ones that are some sort of rack that allows the bottom of the soap to dry).
Enjoy!

Got it. The back end of our shower stays fairly dry and allows my soaps to dry off pretty well between uses.
Do you know if putting the soaps in a very dry/hot room would help speed up the curing process? My wife and I have an older home (over 50 years) and is pretty drafty. B/c of this, we run a little heater in our bedroom that does a great job of keeping us warm, but also dries out the air pretty good. I was thinking of bringing these soaps into our bedroom and see how they get after a couple of weeks.

That would be perfect - don't stack the soaps unless you put spacers between them to get maximum air circulation.
It takes a while for the soaps to dry out and you'll see the change - they'll shrink a bit and darken up.
Depending on how big the soaps are, you might want to cut them in smaller pieces - I bought 300gm blocks of Savon de Marseilles and cut them in half which makes them more manageable and speeds the drying process.

Picked this up at an antique shop. Thinking about some custom scales to better accent the gold wash. There's nothing like putting $2000 rims on a $500 car.

Thomas, This is QED's standard product label. It's good feedback for QED to hear that it says "American gentleman" because he does ship internationally. The label is not properly globalized
This specific product was a limited B&B special whoose orderign period has closed. But if you contact QED via e-mail you can inquire about other QED offerings and overseas shipment.

A nice Ranger Tech/SS hybrid, Gillette 1957 fisherman's kit, A Sheraton and a case in two separate deals, and a Schick repeater. What a cool razor that repeater is, great American engineering!

Thanks,

Just got a near mint Dubl Duck Special No. 1. It has a beat up box and one watermark on the blade. It still has bluing from the tang and starts to fade out a bit 3/4 the way across the spine to the head. I paid just under $50 for it and hope I did well, I have to justify this to the wife. :tongue_sm I doubt this was ever used, looks like any wear was from being in the box and the watermark. I have a feeling this should not be the blade I learn to shave on.

This beautiful C-MON "Blackie" 6/8 arrived yesterday. It came in a pair of non-original, off-white celluloid scales. Fortunately, I'd recently purchased a pair of kosher C-MON "Blackie" scales, so I re-scaled the blade earlier this afternoon.
I also scored a C-MON "Blackie" razor case, in excellent condition, and a mint, two-sided, C-MON hone (complete with original box -- also in mint condition -- and the enclosed instruction-sheet for using the hone).

Found a couple of Gillettes at an antique store for $5.00 each. The one on the right is silver plated and was solid black with tarnish. An over night soak in some Simple Green and lot of Maas and Howard's and elbow grease brought back the shine. The other one is an SS from 1953, the year I was born. It too got an over night Simple Green soak to get the old whiskers and soap and dirt off and an application of some Maas.
Is anyone one familiar with the one on the right? I think it is from the 20's, but I am not sure. I think it was designed for a thicker blade.
I have a couple of others similar to this and I have to play with the angle a bit to get a good shave. Once I have the angle down, it give a very close and smooth shave. The right angle is key, though.
