Found the razor at an antique store and it was dirty and black with tarnish. Basically, I had no idea what I was getting.

Soaked it overnight is a solution of Simple Green and hydrogen peroxide and then spent a considerable amount of time scrubbing and polishing with Maas and Howards Metal cleaner. Worth it, though. It looks nearly new. :001_smile

The Tech lived up to smooth gentleness--and that with a Derby blade, a blade that had not agreed with me earlier. I probably sped up shaving which may have been a mistake--I'll find out later. The Tech is a keeper but I will look for a longer handle to make it a Franken Tech.

I've noticed that I consistently get a mediocre shave when I use Tom's shaving cream. I've tried it at least fifteen times with various amounts of water and it always seems to lack good lubrication properties. :frown:

Surprisingly the Sensor mowed down the last few patches of micro-stubble without a single problem. I guess it really IS all about pre-shave prep, more than anything. The J/A/S/O/N Witch Vera gel is NICE stuff... but it's a bit thick for me -- had to cut it with just a bit of hydrosol.

Outstandingly great shave...true barbershop feel to the whole thing...from the rose beginning, through the tabac, finishing with the clubman talc...just perfect. This was an especially nice shave after not shaving for 3.5 days.

I got the greatest Tabac lather by accidentally "overwetting" the brush during the 2nd pass...turns out the extra water brought the Tabac to a new level of perfection that I didn't think was possible. I truly believe that one drop more and it would have been too runny...just absolutely perfect.

I used a Treet blade for my shaves on Monday and Tuesday but decided that it was not as sharp as I liked. Tried a new one today and it was worse than the blade on Tuesday.

I kept with it and got a decent shave with no cuts or nicks. Not much irritation and that was resolved with the witch hazel and balm.

Will not be using a Treet blade again.

I think it is time to break out the "Sticky" for my Thursday shave.

Just received the 1960 Tech yesterday, complete with the box. The box is kinda rough which is expected for 48 YO cardboard, but I swear the razor had never been used. A nice razor - shaves great.

A friend sent me a sample of the Floid - very cooling but is there supposed to be a scent to it? I couldn't detect any.

my latest trend in shaving has been the lathering up different soaps in the shower as preshave...I'm not sure if it helps the shaves so much, but it lets me use 2 soaps per shave (like getting to shave twice). I use the first soap to satisfy the need for variety, and am finding (so far) that shaving consistently with Tabac has kept my face from exploding.
