I received a E-bay purchase yesterday, an Ever-Ready razor made about 1904, the one with a head opening that looks like Jaws. Put in one of the EMS single edged blades and got a horrid shave, lots of nicks and very uneven. Gave up after one pass. Figured out that the razor head is so large that the metal it is made of is rather thin. This causes it to flex, even with a stiff blade inside.
This one goes on the shelf. I finished up the morning shave with a Gem Featherweight, using the same blade, so that was not the problem. Another great idea torpedoed.
