View Full Version : QED scent mix-up? New Sandalwood soap smells just like B&B cologne

Which is not a bad thing, mind you.

It just seems that my new Sandalwood soap smells exactly like the B&B cologne. It is clearly labeled Sandalwood, but the pine/spruce/evergreen whichever-it-is note is strong, as well. This is a great thing actually, as I've been wanting to try the B&B soap for a while and absolutely adore the cologne. To any sandalwood lovers, you owe it to yourself to try the QEDman B&B soap! So the "QED Sandalwood" in my SOTD posts may indeed be B&B.

Just wondering if any others have had any scent mix-ups?

I appreciate the photo Jim, and that makes it a little even more odd because the soap does indeed have the proper color for being Sandalwood. I've been a QED Sandalwood lover since the start, and this is my third tub. I do detect the heavenly Sandalwood very strongly, but also detect a strong evergreen or spruce scent as well. I keep comparing the scent of the soap to the B&B cologne side by side and they are identical.

Now I'm even more confused

Interesting. I'm getting ready to order another round of products from Charles, and was going to add a Sandalwood tub to that list. Please keep us informed of any developments in this one. Have you contacted Charles?

I didn't even bother to contact Charles about it, as I don't even find it to be that big of a deal. I am completely happy with my purchase. And I no way no whatsoever intend to put any sort of mark on Charles' soaps, which are all top notch and so is the service. I just thought this was pretty interesting. From Jim's photo, the coloration is on point, but the scent is the same as the B&B.

Yes, I wasn't trying to imply that you weren't happy with your purchase -- just asked if you had asked Charles for his input. You don't see it as a big enough deal to bother Charles, so no worries.

I just checked his site, and his Sandalwood tub is listed as currently "Out of stock." Guess I'll be emailing him in the morning to see when they might be back in Ready To Ship status! :ihih:

If this is the first time using his sandalwood soap, then maybe the pure Sandalwood is throwing your nose off. Also, since the scents are very strong, don't smell one then immediately smell the other. Give your nose a break of at least 10-15 minutes before smelling the other. The scents can linger and give your nose a "scent memory". I have a feeling that it is either this, or the sandalwood from your B&B cologne is bringing up the evergreen scent memeory when you smell just the pure sandalwood.

I have both of these soaps, and your nose and sense of smell can get overloaded when smelling these soaps too much (along with the Frankincense & Myrrh)

I just ordered from him but went with Lavender and Frankincense and Myrrh. Which is funny, because I really like sandalwood. I guess I need to finish off my SCS sandalwood first.

I asked this same question a while back.

When my QED Sandalwood arrived I was convinced they'd sent me something else with a Sandalwood label wrongly attached. The problem was I was used to what I thought was Sandalwood scent from other companies, and real Sandalwood doesn't smell like those so to me it just smelled "wrong".

Mine was the same colour as the one in the above photo, if that's any help.
