I got a package from Classic Shaving today :w00t:
TOBS: St. James Collection Luxury Shaving Cream
Thayer's Aftershave Witch Hazel with Aloe Vera
Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum
2 samples of Classic Bay Rum Shaving Cream
I really like the smell of the after shaves and for such a cheap product the Pinaud Bay Rum is blowing my mind, but it smells more like mulled wine than bay rum.
I also hope to acquire a 49-50 Gillette SS by the 6th if I ever hear back from the other party involved

A couple arrived in the post today that I'd bought last year. A Walker & Hall "Flag" razor: "Very Hollow Ground", that seems to have been re-handled; and a very beautiful half hollow ground Joseph Rogers & Sons in one half of it's original box. I'm happy.
Bought this today:
- Tabac Man 50ml A/S
- Tabac Man 30ml EdT

Scored this at a local shop for $15...would have been the deal of the century if that were a Rooney brush.

This Shavemac XXL Tallboy in Silvertip came in the mail today. It was a trade Don (Taz) and I did.
This thing is bloody immense!!! Here's it's shown between (and dwarfing) my two favourite (so far) brushes:

Erick: That is one sweet & classy scuttle mug. I would have paid $15 for that without the brush. Cool score!!
GFT Limes soap and GFT Limes aftershave.
Hoping to get a bunch of new blades in this week, too. Running very low and can't find any in the local drug/supermarkets.

Let us know how that soap works out.
I wasn't actually going to use the soap. The paperwork with the scuttle dates to 1977. I wouldn't think 30 year old soap would fare so well, but I am no expert.

Soap ages extremely well. The scent may be long gone, but it will still work well.

On the advice of my peers, I decided to give the dusty old cake a shot. For posterity, I decided to use the brush I found it with. The lather was surprisingly slick and easy to whip up, despite the brush being a clearly cheap boar with a hair loss problem. However, there was almost no perceivable smell left whatsoever. I would suppose 30 years would do that to any puck. It gave me a good shave, but I forsee it's replacement atop my scuttle in favor of something a bit more aromatic.
Goose, if you would really like to take it out for a run, I will dry it off and send it to you for a full review. I'll even pony up the postage. I'm afraid I am far too new at this to do an adequate job of reviewing anything.

I'm in my first couple weeks of wetshaving still, so I figured I'd pick up some of the lower cost "essentials" I hear about on this board:
C&O Bigelow branded Proraso from Bath and Body Works
Aqua Velva Blue AS
Aqua Velva Musk AS
Old Spice Original AS
Crystal Alum stick
Corn Huskers Lotion
HeadSlick Shaving Cream (used it with a brush on my face, made a surprisingly rich lather)
And when I get back up to school Sunday I should have a Gillette Tech, black handle SuperSpeed O2 and a tub of Trumpers GFT waiting for me.
I'm excited :001_smile

Dropped a (very) small amount at Atlanta Barber Supply for some buckets of Lucky Tiger:
The Molle,
The Disappearing Balm,
The Lemon Cream,
and the Cocoa Butter moisturizer.
Why? Because its cheap and fun and you can throw it around with little or no guilt.
Also dropped a few bucks with the boys at Specialty Bottles for some more amber PET bottles to put all the Lucky Tiger in. Makes for a nice subdued house brand.
Also, yesterday I dropped into Tiecoon (here in Dallas) and picked up a tube of Trumper's Violet. The nice ladies gave me yet more samples of the Skin Foods (bringing the total up to 4 of each). When I put them all in the Amber bottles it turned out to be about an ounce of each Skin Food.
For free. Such a deal.

The straight for $2.50 and the Gillette(b4) for $4. The straight is nowhere near as sharp as an old pocket knife, and the gillette is in no way clean or shiny. For under seven bucks, I'm not complaining.

Yes, I don't see it listed on the wacky "catch-all" page, but as of my last email conversation with him, Charles had just received a new shipment and had many of the products in stock - I think he has the cream, shave stick, AS splash and balm. I'd check with him to confirm if you're interested.
Also, picked up some KMF Lavender & Shea cream, a bar of Dr. Bronner's Lavender soap, and some Tom's of Maine deodorant, to try out. I made a "speed run" through Whole Foods, as I had both kids with me and I was by myself. Naturally they do not find the soap and shave cream aisle as interesting as I do.
I think I'm going to try some "minimalist shaving" and eliminate as many variables as I can to focus on technique.
