View Full Version : Nationwide Campus Group Buy Thread (Shick Injectors/Blades)

Ok fellas..... sound off - how many of each type of razor do you desire - and how many boxes of blades?

The #'s we can generate will then leave us with prices - and your reply to this thread with a desired amount is NON binding. Ideally i'd like to get free shipping on the razors/blades and the blades from $5 per box of 7 down to $3 per box of 7.

If we can buy them at $3 per box of 7, I am personally in for 50 boxes.

I think Joel's excellent picture of the stampings scared off numerous potential purchasers. Just think, they'll never know what it is like to use the adjustable now. For the price of approximately 20 blades, they are missing out on an adventure in shaving. Too bad..

Ron,
As one who uses both the adjustable and fixed injectors I find that the optimal setting for the adjustable is the same as my fixed injector. Recently I tried the various settings on the adjustable and again returned it back to a setting that mimics the fixed razor.

Rather than trying to place a negative spin on this, think of all the members that can look forward to the adventure of using an injector. And, if they so choose, there's nothing preventing them from picking up the adjustable version when it hits the market.

There's no negative spin at all.. It is very simple, there is less and less sense of adventure in these things. If one size fit all, then there will only be one size. If one individual's experience was the universal experience, then we would all use the same blades, same razor, same cream, no one would use soap.
So rather than spinning at all, think about it. Many will not spring for an inexpensive razor made with inexpensive stampings. Yet, it promises to provide the same quality of injector shave that the original adjustables did. They were and still are rather popular for the ability to control blade exposure/angle. So there is no spin, merely an opinion other than that put out by one individual and I still think it is too bad that lads will miss out on the opportunity.

The real beauty of an adjustable is that you can customize the exposure, even if you never change it after you find what you like. To some guys it can make the difference between liking an injector and and succeeding with it or not. I that sense the loss of flexibility can totally change the experience. Not everyone will like or succeed with the fixed setting.

I just cancelled my order with Nationwide... They said they're not necessarily shipping in any order of order-placement. So I really hope this group-buy comes through.

While we're on the topic of Injectors- Do you PREFER the Injector to a DE (any razor with any blade) or is it just a matter of variety & adventure?

Really variety more than anything else. I have this:

http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=1320

and enjoy using it occasionally. I never tried the "O" (Japanese Domestic Market Only) type and remember enjoying the "M" type (adjustable). I think, if I can recall 25 or so years ago, I broke my adjustable using the twin blade injectors in it. I shifted to the Best A Man Could Get back then, Trac II or some such device. :001_rolle

Hey Red Bob,
No blade magazines?

Ron, thanks for looking out for me on that one :001_rolle A kindly gesture, indeed!

But, ahhhhh...........I have just purchased some of the infamous Dog's Bollocks injector blades as a group purchase over on SMF (through the kindly chap, Kalypso). The Dog's Bollocks blades are the Teflon-coated ones, of which I've used the GEM blades, but never the injectors. If the injectors are anything like the GEM blades with Teflon coating, then all will be well, as they don't call them Dog's Bollocks for nothing!

A one time discount offer has been worked out for badger and blade based on the size of the order. Prices will NOT be posted publically, and I kindly ask no one post them publically. The discount is quite considerable considering the actual paid amount (cost) of the products to the distributor, so it is well worthwhile to place your order in the group buy.

Also - the (non-discounted) prices were changed on the razors by the manufacturer - $13.99 for the fixed, and $14.99 for the adjustable.

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR INTEREST IS EXPRESSED ON THIS THREAD. PM'S TO ME WILL NOT WORK, AS I AM GOING TO RECRUIT SOMEONE TO CONTACT EVERYONE WHO REPLIED TO THIS THREAD AND PROVIDE THEM WITH ORDERING INSTRUCTIONS.

THE STEPS WILL BE AS FOLLOWS.
1.) YOU WILL EXPRESS YOUR INTEREST ON THIS THREAD -
2.) YOU WILL BE CONTACTED VIA PM BY A MEMBER HERE WHO I WILL PUT IN CHARGE OF THE CONTACT/OFFER (I WILL POST WHO IT IS ONCE I GET SOMEONE)
3.) YOU WILL BE GIVEN AN EMAIL ADDRESS TO THE EMPLOYEE HANDLING THE GROUP BUY FROM THE SUPPLIER.
4.) YOU WILL SEND YOUR MAILING ADDRESS VIA EMAIL TO THE AFORMENTIONED EMPLOYEE'S EMAIL ADDRESS, AT WHICH POINT YOU WILL PROMPTLY BE SENT A CUSTOM ORDER FORM VIA POSTAL MAIL.
5.) YOU FILL OUT THE ORDER FORM AND PLACE YOUR ORDER.

The ordering process is setup in this manner in order to minimize the workload for the kind folks at the distributor.

Time for me to stop lurking and post!

I'd like to order one fixed, one adjustable and two packs of schick blades.

I've been shaving with an injector razor for about five months, and it's just fantastic. I can't wait to try both of these new razors out to see how they perform against my current schick injector.

I'm not too big on British banter, but I would have guessed that dog's bollocks wasn't a good thing.:tongue_sm

A conversation between Samuel L. Jackson (Elmo) and Robert Carlisle (Felix) from the film 51st State:

Felix: Oh, bollocks!
Elmo: Dog's bollocks?
Felix: No, just plain f***ing bollocks!
Elmo: No dog involved?
Elmo: So, let me get this straight. "Bollocks" is bad, whereas "the dogs bollocks" is good, huh?
Felix: Yeah.
[Felix sees Kane's car]
Felix: Oh, Bollocks!

(Kane is a corrupt policeman who is chasing them)

I sent a check with my order form. I wasn't really comfy just writing down and sending my C.C. information.

When I checked their website, I saw a couple of things that screamed "you're not getting anything FAST:"

1) they must wait for all checks to clear (which I understand)
2) Shipping takes approx. 10 days, and
3) NO RETURN / GUARANTEE policy :mad3:

I actually got two of the fixed blade models. I'm hoping that at least one of them is a keeper (assuming that the quality issues are more than just one razor that keeps getting passed around).

Guys -

Not sure if you all saw that this seller http://stores.ebay.com/Red-Dragon-ImEx_Shaving_W0QQcolZ4QQdirZ1QQfsubZ731120QQftidZ2 QQtZkm
was already selling the NatCamp razors via e-Bay.

I e-mailed him regarding this quality "issue." I told him that I had 2 on the way and that I was curious as to what his take was (if he had used it).

He said that he read the S****blog review and thought it was a bit disingenuous to review a "broken razor." He stated that he had one (the fixed blade) that he uses and is keeping. He is also (obviously) selling them.

He stated that his does not have a bent safety bar, etc. Here's an excerpt from his message back to me:

"I've tried the fixed (type O) you need to hold it a little flatter and it works fine. Quality looks good. I haven't tried the adjustable, (it is, after all, adjustable. If you don't like the shave, adjust it)"

I got a fixed head yesterday and tried using it this morning. This thing won't load the blades! The key only goes in about a third of the way, then gets stuck. Am I doing something wrong?

I ended up manually inserting the blade which was rather tricky and it gave me a decent shave. Not bad, not great. I'll try again tomorrow.

Same, I could only get my blade in a 3rd of the way then had to do the rest by hand. =/

I shaved with the fixed head this morning but I never used an injector before but I did follow the other posts and kept the guard against my skin. I'm not sure if I was supposed to do that or another angle but the shave I got (with CVS blades, my other good ones are on order) was sketchy at best even using Nancy Boy. Had I not run out of time and needed to get to work I would have finished off with my HD. =/ Bummed me out to walk out of the house with a cruddy shave. I'll try it again tomorrow though, maybe I just need to get used to the razor.

Hmmm . . . Sounds like it's time to post a link to Ron's Pictorial on "Loading an Injector (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=1568)"
Last night I tried loading a blade into the non-adjustable NWC model and a Schick Model L that I bought from rols (thanks rols!) and had no trouble whatsoever. I only had to adjust the blade once fully loaded since the blades tend to load with one side a bit more exposed than the rest, and thus had to make sure the blade was equally-exposed on both ends.
Bytheway, I'm using the blades from TedPella (http://www.tedpella.com/dissect_html/dissect.htm#anchor1586278) (#121-4).
I'll let y'all know how the shave goes. I plan to shave one side of my face with the NWC razor, and the other side with the Schick Model L.

I actually referred to that thread yesterday, but I can only get to the third photo. The key goes in about a third of the way, then stops cold. If I force it, the key moves slightly further, but then requires the Jaws of Life to get it back out.

I'm not sure if it's a quality control issue or what, but I guess I got a bum razor. Maybe NWC should ship a pair of pliers with every order. Live and learn, I guess.

Yes, you are right: http://www.nationwidecampus.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1500&cid=

Still, amount of greasy fingerprints (of packing/selling person?) on the razor is somewhat embarassing...
