Got my 25mm Superior Brushes Super Badger brush today ( I also feel like I've been physically violated by Customs yet again, God I hate those *******'s!)
In light of Joel's comments about the brush I was somewhat apprehensive about receiving it, but like everyone here always says YMMV.
With regards to the handle, it is, simply put, absolutely stunning. Very heavy, yet much more well balanced than any other brush I have held. The bristles are very densely packed, more so than my Simpsons Persian Jar (although truth be told I am so nervous after my initial run of bad luck with brushes, that I haven't had the PJ out of it's box for more than a couple of seconds) the bristles are slightly less robust than the Simpsons bristles, but for me that is a good thing as I prefer a softer brush. I think the combination of densely packed but thinner bristles will be ideal for me.
Pictures when I figure out photoshop ( I can actually work my camera now, but getting the pictures from my album to the site is going to be the big hurdle.)
Obviously, the real test will come when I start to use the brush properly so I reserve judgement until then, but if the level performance is anywhere near as good as the look then I will be happy. Whatever happens, it is the perfect eye candy for a wet shaver.

my lovely sister-in-law who works at a C&E boutique brought me home:

1. a jar of C&E sweet almond oil shave cream
2. a wooden bowl of C&E shave soap
once these beauties are finished, they'll be a memory. :frown:

Picked up a slim handle Gillette Adjustable for $2.50 and a boar brush for $3.50 today at a local antique shop. As you can tell the Gillette is in great shape and has cleaned up nicely...and I have yet to polish the metal! I am currently debating whether or not to try and resto the brush and have new bristles put in. Your input would be appreciated.

Get that PJ out of its box and use it--the bristles will soften up a ton after its been used a bit. There's a huge difference with the PJs after 1 or 2 uses--they go from bristly (is that a word?!?) to incredibly soft and supple.

For me, the brush is cute but not worth re-bristling. It looks like more fun as a collectable than as an everyday shaver--but YMMV!

Here are the pics of the straights from my great uncle:
First off, here are all of the razors in boxes, though I don't think they are the original boxes.
http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=2861
This razor is the smallest of the bunch and is the razor my uncle was given for his 13th birthday (he is now near 80).
http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=2859
The red-tipped razor was the razor my uncle's mother used while she was a barber.
http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=2858
The SatinEdge Razor is his favorite and was what he used to shave most of his customers. The second favorite was the red-tipped, I believe.
http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=2860
Lastly, here are the pics of his personal strop and hone. I am supposed to get a teaching lesson next time I am in Dallas or he comes up to Oklahoma City.

http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=2862

Well, there they are. I have yet to decide on whether or not to use these razors but I have a strong desire to. I'll probably need to surf the net for some info regarding upkeep, keeping the razor sharp, etc before proceeding. If I decide to not use the razors, they will definitely be great in my collection and will be great to hand down to my future kids.

Enjoy!

Alex,

What handle style and color did you decide on?

Hi Rik,
The handle I chose is the third one down on the left handside of the Superior website. I got it in Mesa Brown. I was tempted to send in a design of my own, but this seemed easier for my first order. Also, it gives me a reason to place another order with Superior in the near future. After all, if I have one of the handles they designed, it's only right I have one of my own design to keep it company.

Actually, this came over a two week period, but I ordered it all the same week, and I thought it would look good together as a group. They look happy, dont they?

http://badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=2888

Left to right, back row
1) Tom's of Maine Mint
2) 100 Derby Blades
3) Tube of Proraso Green

Left to right, front row
1) 1971 Gillette Super Adjustable - long handle
2) 1972 Gillette Super Adjustable
3) Lee's Safety Razor Pure Badger Brush #1001

Thanks to Lee for the awesome service in getting this brush to me. Realistically, it's not a high-end brush, but the price was great, the shipping, even to Canada was fantastic and fast, and my first shave with it was nothing short of perfect, truly.

Peace,

Pierre

It's definitely the most densely packed brush that I have had so far. With the Mama Bear soaps it whipped up a great lather, but for some reason I couldn't get the lather on my face. I'm sure it's some mistake I have made somewhere along the line, but not being able to use a brush is an embarassing new low even for me! Apart from that it is a nice brush. The bristles on mine don't have the split ends Joel mentioned, but judging from the shape of the head I would agree it had been trimmed to shape. The handle is excellent, and to my inexperienced eye at least, the fit and finish are top notch. The one negative though, is the fact that it has the most offensive new brush smell I have yet encountered, luckily that's only temporary.
Several, blurry, pictures have been taken but unfortunately they don't do the brush justice. When I manage to resize them I'll get them posted.

Too late to use with today's miserable shave the post lady bought me:
1 x Hydrolast Wet Shaving Cube
10 x Packs of Derby Blades
5 x Packs of Feather Blades
1 x Castle Forbes Lavender Shave Cream
1 x GFT Coconut Oil Shave Cream

Glad to have another Enchante cube again, despite the smell it is a great addition to my mix.

I finally got the cologne I was looking for. very much sought after floral cologne that has been discontinued for all the wrong reasons. I just used a little on my finger..and it blows Quercus and Endymion sky high out of the penhaligons water....... wow I cant even decant it for someone else no no NO stay off my only bottle :frown:

Have to decant it , this will be "my precious " just like B&B Cologne but the exact opposite .and B&B lucky is still made also on a rare occassion so I advice those who dont have it get in. I cant even describe B&B from all the cologne I got here I tried to best describe this one aswell best is to show you the bottle and top notes.

I am a little careful about bayrum. My favourite Bay Rum Scent is that of Pashana Bay Rum.......and I haven't found anything which comes close.

yes, the Pashana bay rum is great stuff, I wouldn't mind getting it again. But as far as Sensational Indulgences soaps are concerned, the only one I ever used and still am using is their bay rum. I'm delighted with it. It was a gift, and the next one I'd like to try from them is the tea tree and peppermint scent.

After completing my first half of the USMLE Step 3 this afternoon, I decided to head out to a local antique shop in McAlester. Boy did I reward myself! While scoping out this massive 2 story antique shop, I was initially disappointed to not find anything. A little persistence paid off when I found a black handled Gillette SuperSpeed. To my joy, I later found a box full of the following: 1 Gillette Adjustable FatBoy, 2 Gillette Adjustable Slim Handles, 1 Long Black Handled Gillette Adjustable, 1 Gillette SuperSpeed, 1 Schick Eversharp Injector, 1 Schick Adjustable Injector, 2 Standard Schick Injectors, and 1 GEM Razor. All these razors for a mere 15 bucks!!! I am now in the process of cleaning these bad boys up. A few of the razors are in very good shape while a few are a bit more worn. I also picked up an old Old Spice shaving mug. Not too bad for suffering through an 8 hour exam today. I wonder if tomorrow has anything better to offer???

EDIT: Also picked up two old razor handles along with some hand-held hair clippers (the head looks like those that the barbers use to give you a buzz cut but you power the head by squeezing two handles like scissors)...only 4 bucks.

too much going on too tired, changing work shifts it all didnt benefit to gettin a shave but now I know I will get a great one I always do when I skip it for 2 days.

upon arriving home yesterday there was waiting on the corner of the stairs as usual a box.

Muhle very nice good packing and each item was wrapped in special muhle birthday gift paper like.

-Proraso Crema Liduida Dopobarba (100ml )
-Proraso pre-post crema (100ml jar)
-Muhle Pinsel Super Badger black handle 21mm brush.
-Genuine Horn soap bowl
-Muhle Almond soap cake
-Proraso green soap plastic bowl 75ml

I have treated the brush for 90 minutes in an ozon bath to get the smell out of the brush...and kinda sterile it a bit further like if it needs it I dont think so but a benefit of Ozon is its strong then Chloride without hurting the goods.

The Horn bowl looks nice. the soap smells like D.R Harris almond going to use it for my SOTD. The brush bloomed like it is almost as big as a BK4 pretty impressive bloom.

The pure Sandalwood oil is for a special shaving cream and hydrosal I plan on making soon.
It's starting to get confusing with all these wonderful soaps being made by women named Sue. :w00t:

Being blessed with good friends and good fortune, the past few days have been very good to me.

With good words from Scotto and Austin, I originally went to the store with plans of purchasing some Pre de Provence shave soap. They did not have the soap but carried the cream, and I was also pleasantly surprised to find some of the Provence Sante shave soap.

Finally, in an attempt to better manage some of my growing collection of shave goods, I found this nifty little wire rack with drawers.

More or less...it is the Vulfix #41.

Very nice, Rene. How do you like the handle on that brush? It looks very comfortable.

It is like you say comfortable. The hairs are way stiff compared to a Bk8 but a BK series thats like no resistance at all.it also is very scratchy /exfoliating I like it it creates good lather for soaps basically I got it for soaps since the Bk8 is an UBER brush way too big to fit most soaps..good brush at 50% off couldnt go wrong.

I picked this cream up at my local German Deli, I figured for four bucks it was worth a shot.
Cheers, DJ.

 At first glance I thought that the rack was on the floor and those were some huge novelty brushes.:blushing:

DJ, I used to shave with it, it's a good cream, although, I don't dig the scent. I have another one from Germany which is very similar, it's called Balea.

Kyle,

I notice at the base of the rack what appears to be a small notebook or PDA. Logging your shaves?

That is actually my manicure kit. The PDA/manicure kit was a little out of my price range. I am, however, hoping to get the poison dart attachment for my birthday.
