I have now been shaving with a DE razor for 3 weeks, and i find it absolutely perfect compared to my previous Mach 3 and electric razor.
Luckily my father left me all of his custom shaving gear from Asprey's in London, all unique items from the silvertip shaving brush to the ivory shaving bowl.
Unfortunately he threw out his old Gillette DE razor and started using a mach 3  several years ago,so i bought a new Merkur HD which i love.
My question is this.Since ive started shaving a few weeks ago i cannot stop buying new shaving cream.Unfortunately:blush: ,where i live i have acces just 10 minutes away to everything from all the creams from the 3 T's,to Crabtree and Evelyn,Penhalgions,D.H. Harris, the Art of Shaving,etc...
and i have bought creams from all of them.I have found out that i much prefer natural scents to cologne scents in my shaving cream.I have found two creams which i absolutely adore:
Trumper's Coconut and Taylor's Avocado.
I love rose scented things and i would love to add a new shaving cream, and my choice boils down to this,
Should i go for the Trumper's Rose or the Taylor's Rose?
And also should i try Trumper's violet?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Taylor's definitely. If you want GFT rose, get the soap, that is an awesome product. The cream is decent, but doesn't impress me.

hello sir,
the answer to your questions, get taylor's Rose. In my opinion the smell is better and for the price taylor's is the best hands down. It also lathers very very well
As for Violet, its a hit or miss with guys. I for one bought a tube and absolutely hated it. Did not lather well, and was not protective or moisturizing at all. In fact the lather actually dried off my face on my 2nd pass. But the smell is good, not nearly as addictive as Taylor's Rose or Avocado.
Hopes this helps.

I prefer the scent and performance of Trumper's Rose. The Trumper's scent isn't as sweet smelling. The TOBS is high quality, though, and half the price.

Well i just went to the shop that carries the 3 T's,but they had run out of the tubs of Taylor's Rose,so i got the Trumper's rose instead.
I quite like the scent, not great but not bad.I'll have to try it tomorrow.

I've got 2 tubes of Coates Rose and I like it very much. Unfortunatly it is not manufactured any more so it is used very sparingly. The scent is very different from what others manufacture. It's much more closer to the older formulations of Trumper's.

Saying stuff like that around here is not a good way to make friends!
Okay, I am only kidding, but I am still jealous. Of course, it is probably a good thing I am not in your shoes, or I would be broke by now. :w00t:
On to your question...another vote for TOBS...all the way.

You have acquired SCAD and may never be able to recover.

I have tried both Trumpers and TOBS rose. While both OK, they do not approach AOS rose absolute IMO - this uses rose EO and does not contain the vibrant dye added. It also comes in a tub that does not crack after a few weeks of use and it whips up an excellent lather. Trumpers violet is unique to them as far as I know and well worth trying.

When it comes to the rose creams, Taylor's > Trumper's.

I actually prefer the T&H Rose over Taylor's and Trumper's.
Can't believe no one has snatched up the one in the Buy/Sell forum.
I think it's getting hard to find in the States.

Haven't tried the trumpers rose, but I have a tub of Taylors rose and had a tub of Trumpers Violet. I traded the Trumpers Violet off as it wasn't anywhere near as good as the TOBS Rose. I would definitely recommend getting some TOBS rose as its one of the best values in a shave cream.

My rose cream preferences of all that I've tried (only three):
ToBS > Salter > Trumper

My vote would be Trumper's rose SOAP > T&H cream > Taylor's

Trumper's Rose is a better scent, Taylor's Rose is a better quality product.

I bought some Trumper's Rose cream last night and used it this morning.
I LOVE IT! I've been using KoS and could tell a difference with the glide of the razor.
I'm already looking forward to my next shave.

well aren't you lucky :tongue_sm
i've been debating buying TOBS rose or avocado. Most of what i've read has TOBS and Trumper's being both very good but TOBS being slightly better if for any reason the price.
