Today I made a small quantity of a Pre/Post Oil. It consists of:
50% - Pure She Butter
50% - 99% Pure Aloe Vera
2 drops Tea Tree Oil

I warmed the Shea Butter till it melted (NOT HOT) mixed in the Aloe Vera and Tea Tree Oil.

I massaged it in before my shower and again before lathering.

It worked very nicely. :em2300:

Anybody try something like this before ?

One part olive oil to one part castor oil works great as well. You can add essential oils, but I love the smell of olive oil, so I really consider other oils non-essential. When I run out of mine I'll give your recipe a try. I follow the "finish your plate before you can have more" philosophy on shaving stuff.

I have a good version of a shaving balm that works well pre and post. I hope to post it up soon as a video as the preparation using EM wax to form a cream so is best demonstrated.

I use Johnson's baby oil. I think they've changed the recipe too, it feels lighter now, more water based.

Since baby oil is mainly mineral oil, I tried straight mineral oil. Too thick. Gunked up everything.

I don't put foam on top of neat baby oil, I let it soak in for a few minutes and then rinse off, but there is still a decent residue of slippiness remaining, also it makes your skin really soft too. Works for me anyway.

I have tried a simple mixture of glycerin and aloe vera gel to fully moisturize my skin before shaving, which I found helps my shaves significantly. That worked OK, but not quite as well as, say, Trumper's Coral Skin Food or an extra layer of a good shaving gel.

I have not tried adding shea butter to my mixture, but given that it is an excellent moisturizer, I might just do that. What form is your aloe vera in? Is it powder, juice, or gel?

Best - MM

The Aloe Vera is 99% GEL form.
