My younger brother recently purchased a tub of Taylors Avocado, but could NOT get used to the scent so he sent it to me. Canada Post was kind enough to deliver it to me this morning. To say the least, I love this stuff.

Today I had a wonderful package waiting for me at the office.

Lee once again demonstrated his speedy service. The PJ1 is an incredible brush. It's a wonderful size that performs admirably. The major also is outstanding. It will be a pleasure to use when I'm on the road.

Sigh.... luckily I got some relief from the horrible pangs of jealousy over Riks PJ1 (see pic below)..... YOU %$&$% :cursing: Seriously... that thing is a beauty.... you have the PJ1 and the PJ2.... I have the PJ2 and PJ3.... sigh.... looks like it'll be a race to see who completes the line first

So anyway - my score today - A cool Duke 3, which is my first Simpson in Best Badger (I don't really count the Wee Scot) and I must say, this Duke handle is radically superior to a Chubby handle (the Duke 3 is basically a Chubby 1 best, with a better, more comfortable handle). The best badger hair is certainly a lot "wimpier" than the super, however it feels as though it'll be mighty luxurious. Also included in the picture below are some superb samples from Dinder1 - what a hell of a gentleman to trade with! He sent me samples of roasted coffee from his establishment Ristretto Roasters (http://www.ristrettoroasters.com/) which smells absolutly devine, as well as a fantastically interesting cake of "Himalaya Shave Soap" made with shea butter and soy. This soap smells gorgeous, and is quite soft and seems to be REALLY packed with a high % of Shea Butter... I am crossing my fingers and hoping this will be a superior substitute for my beloved Will G Shea Butter soap.

Got the "Jaguar" Gillette I won on ebay today. Like most of you said it is definitely NOT a genuine Jaguar edition. However, at the risk of offending the automotive snobs, I am not entirely bothered because I don't even like Jaguar cars. I wanted a mint condition Gillette DE, and this was the best I could find. The tin, while nice enough for what it is (despite the Jaguar logo:biggrin: ) isn't even big enough to hold the razor, further evidence of this products lack of authenticity . As for the razor, it would appear to be the Tech I was told it was, a lightweight (aluminium handle) model but it is in perfect condition. pictures (if anyones even remotely interested) when I figure out how to post them.
Warm reegards,

Excellent EYES DENNIS ! I thought no one noticed.
Im such a Cologne Junkie now I just cant stop sniffing , I will offer some of my stuff decanted for only B&B members in a very limited supply. it will be more to be like samples 10ml of stuff for people to try to see if they like something or not .thats why I bought more of Santal since I think people will like that stuff.
i am no threat to the Decant club because I will simply offer a bit of my stack when its gone its gone. very exclusive and very limited.
I have 3 bottles of Santal EDT and a/s Balm. 2 of them for sale and to be decanted. Im keeping one balm as a back up because I love that balm.

Suzuki...I thought the same thing with the juniper shave stick from Charles...The thought crossed my mind to melt it down with a little lime and get a true G & T shave. I mentioned it to Charles and he said he has a Bath Soap called "Bathtub Gin" done with Juniper Berry with a twist of Lime (and a dash of Lemon). I might just add it to my next order...

Charles told me the same thing - he's sending me a list of his soaps (not listed on his site, which he's working on updating).

I'll likely add one to the next order as well - my only concern is showing up at work smelling of "Bathtub Gin"!

First - let me say, the shaving brush stand with this brush is without question the finest I have experienced. It is difficult to explain, but the brush fits in the stand a certain way which holds the brush VERY securely and it cannot fall out of the front, it has to be lifted upward and outward simultaneously. Also - I REALLY like that the Muhle logo is "updside-down" so that the majority of the brushes life which is spent on the brush stand - the logo displays right side up. Also - notice the density of the brush (see the head on shot). The GERMAN sourced silvertip badger hair (NOT "super") is simply the softest in the land, however due to the near chubby/duke like bristle density it is not the least bit floppy. The fit/finish is WORLD class, and the handle is both weighted perfectly, gorgeous, ergonomic, and original. These Muhle's are VERY reasonably priced for the tremendous build quality, craftsmanship and performance. Expect a review of this brush posted within the week. (NOTE: it doesn't appear so in the picture, but in person the brush stand is the same "frosted" acrylic as the brush, and is a perfect match.... if/when I get hitched and the SWMBO forces me to display only one brush out on the counter - this one will be it.)

The other brush... well..... get out the kleenix to mop up the drool from the floor. That sucker is genuine Mother of Pearl, and is without question the most exceptional looking brush I have ever seen.... I so badly want to use it in conjunction with my favorite straight razor - my Dovo 5/8 Genuine MOP, however this thing is so exqusite, so original and such an antique, I think I might have to leave it pristine.

I once said I'd never buy/own a brush just to look at..... I formally retract that statement.

I've got over 30 high end shaving brushes (not counting boar brushes and inexpensive badger brushes) so since I already look at so many I get to use so rarely - I don't think it would be too hard.

Rik,
I actually to a "load" of shaving stuff down south as I may be moving soon, and unfortunatly the MOP razor was one of the items I took down. I'll probably be back down there within a week or so though - and I'll be sure to snap some pics. Pictures really don't do this brush justice, as in person it looks a heck of a lot more elegant and the "boxy" lines of the brush handle play into the MOP perfectly as each one reflects light differently and the end result is one heck of a whirlwind of sparkling color.

I'm a firm believer that it takes a professional photographer to capture the true beauty of items created from natural products. And even then that ability is a rare talent. I've taken numerous pictures of items crafted from highly figured wood and they never look as nice as the actual object. I look forward to seeing them side by side and only can imagine what they look like in person.

Jeff,

They offer 3 soaps, and I can only get one locally. When I placed my order with drugstore.com, I noticed they had all three available. It's a decent soap, with a nice scent. Nothing fancy, but it does get the job done.

Randy, I used the Surrey Deluxe soap, which was decent, but somehow, I found it to be drying for my skin. Now, on the other hand, Col. Conk bay rum soap is not only great smelling and rich in lather, it leaves my skin smooth, and feeling comfortable.

Greetings Randy,

What is Face Tools Daily Defense and Cleanse 'N Shave?

Rik,

These are products sold by Jolene at Appearances For Men (http://www.appearancesformen.com). I met Jolene at SRP, and started using her Granular Scrub. The Daily Defense and Cleanse 'N Shave just round out the trio. I have been very impressed with her products. The scrub has replaced all of others I had. Daily Defense is an a/s gel that is very soothing and calming. It has a light scent the disappears quickly. The Cleanse 'N Shave is her shaving gel. It is great stuff with only one drawback. It's brushless. I've been using it for most of the past two weeks, and find that my shaves with it equal any I've had, minus the brush experience. This will definitely be my travel gel. Currently, I'm trying it as a "pre-shave" gel, with good results. I'll be posting a review on the products this hopefully by this weekend. I already posted a review of the Granular Scrub. She also offers ColoreScience Sunforgettable, a sun protection that FisherC has recommended. Okay, now that I sound like Jeff talking about Arko, let me conclude. I've thoroughly enjoyed using these products, YMMV.

Some hate it and some love it. I love it!

I bought 56 blades off Ebay for $91.00 + $6.99 for shipping. Total of $97.99 or $1.75 a blade. A much better price if compared to an eight pack of blades from CVS at $24.99 or $3.12 per blade. I've seen some auctions as low as $1.35 a blade. Still not as cheap as a DE, but in my eyes quit affordable.

And my backorder from French Soaps also came in.

Congrats Marty, Gillette Kicks Hair. to me the thin handle does not so much.
I like the superspeed even better to that. but to me the Fatboy is king of them all with a Feather blade armed I get such a close shave stubble wont appear after 24 hours ! I just got an Aristocrat Silver model very nice but not as heavy as a Fatboy will load it up with a Feather.

Both the soap and the cream can provide a very good shave. The issue that keeps arising with me is the scent. The Commando and Sensitive are just OK in my book and the others I do not like. To borrow a little bit from John's (letterk) thread "Cheap vs. Inexpensive" (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=3217) I think that these are definitely inexpensive and sadly, several of them are "cheap".

Having said all of this, I realize that some folks love the Arko products. As scent can be such a personal thing and the price of these products is so affordable, I would recommend that everyone give Arko a try.

guys, guess what, I finally found 2 products from Arko that I don't like! The citrus a/shave/cologne and the Sunset one. Gross! Yuck!

Injectors from Nation Wide Campus.... the non adjustable one looks/feels a hell of a lot nicer than the adjustable. I'll give 'em both a go and see how they perform.

How does the adjustable feel compared to the old one? Or do I remember you saying you didn't have one for comparison?

This (http://www.badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?p=33552#post33552) post should cover your question more in-depth. This is really a bad ass razor.

My parents recently returned from a family reunion in Tyler, TX and brought the following gifts from my great uncle, a life-long barber in a family of barbers:
He gave my his own personal strop as well as a hone (I guess...it is a small rectangular stone...not yet in with all the str8 lingo)
I also received 3 straight razors which are reportedly shave ready!

I have not yet taken pictures but will tomorrow when I am post-call. I also should be receiving a detailed history of all of the gear as some of the razors were handed down to him from his mother, a barber as well.

Fortunately, he only lives about three hours away (Dallas, TX) so I'll probably go for some lessons and probably try to get a free str8 shave out of it as well!

Yeah, the Family Reunion took place at one of our family member's place and the have this massive and immaculate yard that has been featured in numerous magazines. You can apparently google Tyler, TX and find a link to a panoramic video or picture of their backyard. I'm going to try it now, but the pics my folks brought back were pretty impressive...apparently all of the landscaping, paving, etc is done by the husband himself.
