Really good shave today - I'm currently using VO5 conditioner (!) as a pre-shave during my shower, then Taylor's of Old Bond Street St James cream, applied with my Edwin Jagger super badger, and 3 passes with a Merkur slant loaded with a feather. Actually, today I was feeling brave and went for a 4th pass - no irritation, and very BBS - splendid.
A splosh of the Nivea balm, and away we go. Har!
I really feel I'm getting the hang of this now, after a few months' experimenting. Thanks to all the guys here - your advice and wisdom is continully useful. Cheers!

I just love this Blix shave cream. Great scent, really nice lather, slick and leaves skin feeling nice and soft.

I believe the water I was using to soak the brush was too hot when I first got the brush. Back then, I was using water fresh from a hot-pot. Now, I just use hot water from the tap. :redface:

I really liked the TGQ soap....it's as good or better than any other glycerin-based soap I've used; quite slick, luxurious lather, and it seemed to be nice to my face as well.

•apply Feather Pre-shave, let set for several minutes

• apply Em's Skindicinal Lathering Shave Cream and rub it into beard.

• reapply Em's

•begin shaving with Feather RG "Special" with Feather Pro Super blades

•repeat

• wash/soak face with hot water

• soak face in wash cloth using cold water

• apply alum, let dry
