This isn't a tech question but it is photography related.

I just bought a cable on eBay to download the images from the camera to my computer.

Unfortunately, they sent the wrong cable and it doesn't fit.

Now, after several days, they request that I send them a photo to clarify the situation!

If I could send them a photo, I WOULDN'T NEED THE CABLE.

And what's really funny is ... they show the correct cable in their auction.

What camera is it? Do you know what the cable is called?

Your camera uses no memory card that you could just plug into a $15 card reader?

Can you link to the auction? What kind of camera do you have?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:USB_types_2.jpg - Check out that picture, which cable did you get? Guessing you go one of the two on the left and got the wrong size?

Yes, please send a link to the auction. I have many cables lying around I could give you but need to see the picture to figure out which one.

It is a Nikon Coolpix 995 and it takes a Nikon UC-E1 cable.

I just thought this was funny. I will have to use a description or use an existing photo on the net. The cable they sent has a different part number and sure enough, it's a different cable.

I feel that the seller should make good, because it is a foolish error they made. One end is a standard USB connector. The other end is unusual. One side of the camera connector end is flat; the other has an outjog. They sent me a cable with an injog.

Some of these sellers claim their cable fits several models, but I'm quite skeptical of that claim.

I agree the "send me a picture" was pretty ironic.

As another person pointed out, I would buy a card reader over the cable. The transfer times over cables for digital cameras tend to be slow and some of the card readers and VERY fast. And you can use it for other media/a new camera.

Hope it all works out.

Don't forget that cable transfers might eat away at battery life.
