I was at The Body Shop today to pick up a free sample of their creme. While there I bought a bottle of Tea Tree Oil. I read up on this stuff and they claim it does wonders for various skin irritations including razor burn. Since I am still a rookie using a straight and I still get some irritation on or about my chin line I figured I would try it out.
Has anyone else used this stuff ?
Does it work ?

My wife & I use it for various pimples & things that pop up. It's great. I'm debating making an aftershave with a few drops.

works great for a variety of things but it is very potent stuff - use just a couple drops and dilute it in something. lots of info about this stuff online and probably on this board too
it's known for fighting infection and stuff like that, not sure if I'd want to put it directly on razor burn

I've used it after shaving and found it to have a very soothing effect. But, as mentioned, you don't want to use a lot because it has a VERY strong scent.
Tea Tree can be great but can also be very bad if over used and and cause skin or hair problems. I do not think it would work well in a AS in that it would over dry your skin, maybe in a very trace amount.

I use both a commercial Tea Tree shave cream (SCS), and I make my own using J/A/S/O/N/ Tea Tree oil in Kiss My Face Scentless Shave Cream. But as Taz said, it can be drying if used too often. Once in a while seems to really make my face feel good.

Thanks guys.
I hope to find something to soothe the burn on my chin line until I get the straight shaving down. I (knock on wood) have the other areas of my face under control.
Maybe someone has another idea. I have also used Proraso Pre/Post shave cream and it seems to help.
Thanks Again

Try the QED after shave balm, Nivea ASB, or(if you can get it) the Castle Forbes Balms are great for razor burn. The Nivea is fairly easy to find and works great.

To me, this seems like something Mama Bear needs to chime in on.

I use Melaluca products a bit. (Not sure if I'm spelling that right) The acne medication is Melaluca/tea tree oil (same thing) with witchhazel. I find it's nice to use, but use a moisturizer after because it can dry, like others have commented already. Might be good to use like or with Thayers.
