I got my new Superior 25mm super badger brush yesterday and immediately went to bathroom to practice whipping up bowls of lather. Had more than enough for three passes this morning. All in all, a very fine first time out with this brush. The really good part is that it will just get better with practice.

Added to the time it does take to perform the shave ritual. That is the only downside.

The lather of the T&H soap is just as the name describes: luxurious. Really, really great performance. The scent of this soap is OK...at times I think I like it, and then it starts smelling a bit like Lysol (to my nose)...but the performance of this soap definitely overshadows my ambivalent feelings about the scent.

Using both right and left hands (but mostly my right hand): WTG on cheeks, neck, chin, and upper lip; ATG on neck; XTG on cheeks, jaw, and chin. No visible damage :smile: and a shave which is BBS in some places, a little "sandpapery" in others. This could be big...

Got a near perfect BBS shave (without really meaning to)...this morning my face still looks great and am still smoother than usual...have to attribute it to the preshave prep and maybe the MB soap (the blade was on its third use and I did the same # and type of passes as usual). Evidently Gold Dachs soap has turned into a favorite soap even though I'm not all that woohoo about the scent from the puck. The soap makes my face feel good and protected on these cold mornings and the shaves have been very close.

Had to do an extra shave this evening... Nick and I came up with an even better soap (after a few months of work) and I had to try out this new stuff ( Scented in an interesting Persian Lime 100% pure EO) with a complex of butters, clays, oils (including rosehip, jojoba, avocado) superfatted, vitamin enhanced, AND boosted with a REALLY pure, triple refined lanolin (AKA Wool Fat.) - AND of course, to break in the B&B Essential proto.

:thumbup: for both! The previous iterations of the soap, were in my opinion second to none, but this is even slicker, and lathers much quicker. The B&B essential... well - check the brush forum in a few minutes :biggrin:

Rob, for the price I can certainly recommend it. Not the same quality lather as something like Tabac for instance, but decent nonetheless. I've been using it for a while now and I get a good shave with it every time. Lather it directly onto the face and add a little bit of water with the brush and it gives a surprisingly slick lather.

It'd be ideal for someone like your son who's relatively new to wetshaving.
