Which would you keep. An HD or 38c?

I am having a hard time deciding which razor to give my brother. I just purchased an HD and have tried shaving with it and think it is great. My 38c seems to shave a little closer though. I like the maneuverability of the HD but I seem to need more passes to get as close a shave as the 38c. The 38c can be a bit big for some spots though. I can't decide. I do also have a futur so I will still have a weighty razor if I give him the 38c. I can't decide.

I'd loan my brother the HD (as it's probably an easier starter razor) and give him, say, a month of using it before he has to give it back. He'll come up with the $30 on his own. =)

Both are great razors. I'm a smaller person, and I like the HD over the 38C, which I find too large. I like the weight but not the length. Personally I find the HD to be a better starter razor for anyone.

Ya, I like the HD's size and maneuverability but the 38c gives me a closer shave. I need to try a derby in the HD and see if it shaves closer. I am using a merkur(the one in the box) at the moment and gave myself a nice razor burn trying to get all of the stubble on my upper chin area.Maybe the blade is a bad one? It was in the box. I will try a derby and see what happens.

I gave my brother my HD since I love my 38C. It is all up to personal preference. If you can't decide then just let him borrow the HD and then pick get a replacement HD for yourself. :biggrin:

Give him the HD. It will be cheaper to replace when you decide that you need both. :biggrin:

I have an HD and love it, but really want a Progress. That said, I have been looking at the 38C and it is a nice looking machine.

I thought that the 38C was the same head as the HD, is that not true??

My brother is going to get the HD. My 38c gives a better shave even though it has the exact same head as the HD. It must be the extra weight that helps. It is a little harder to control but I can get used to it.It is put together better too.With the HD I feel like I have to put pressure to equal the shave with the 38c.I am used to my futur and 38c so the HD seems pretty small too.
