American Crew Shave lotion

Nice shave with this combo. No irritation to speak of. Adding a very very tiny bit of that gel into the bowl with the VDH soap really made a nice fluffy lather. After years of shaving with the Atra cartridges, I've found that, pretty much without fail, the 2nd shave yields the best, most comfortable results. Using them beyond 5 times is kind of pushing it, at least that's my experience.

The Trafalgar performed very well for me after face-lathering it...it never seemed to work too well when lathered in the bowl...but this shave was absolutely fantastic!

Over here in the States we get Valobra Menthol and Almond soap, which is a very soft soap. And a Valobra shaving stick that is a hard soap, not sure of the scent.

It's very nice stuff. That jar however is 2+ years old and it is not a scent he regularly stocks. It actually smells identical to Crusellas Violet, which is kind of a "cheap" smelling violet, but I like it quite a bit nonetheless. :thumbup1:

Today? me? well ...

I did some KMF mint, lathered up by my trusty Vulfix 377. Maybe a bit too big, but still enjoyable (especially for a slow multi-pass weekend shave ... )

Of course, my Feather AC took it off in one pass. One pass isn't BBS, but it's not too far off and certainly presentable for work ... :ouch1:

Instead of aftershave, I got out my seldom-used jar of Proraso Post, and slapped some on, inspired by the cooling of the KMF mint.

Then, some Pashana hair tonic ... I can't decide if I really like that stuff, or if it's overpowering and suffocating ... certainly old-school scent!! But a spritz of Dunhill for men (1934) works well with it.

For some reason I just couldn't acheive a close shave with a straight today so I opted for a double edge. I was using a 4/8 which is too small for my tastes.

Lather followed by lather massage and a hot towel

Lather and two passes

Pretty good, but my face was getting irritated after a pass with the straight so not as good as usual.

Ah, that was nice!!

Then some witch hazel, TOBS lime aftershave, and then Mama Bear Winter Milk, unscented. And of course the Dunhill for men cologne.

*Something went goofy with my blade. One side's cutting edge seems to have vanished between now and my last shave. I suppose it could have been like this all along and I just never noticed. Before the shave as I ran it through the cork I noticed that one edge seemed substationally less sharp compared to the other. I finished the shave using one side and tossed it.
