It is time for the Thanksgiving Holiday Green-Bean-Give-A-Way. I will send the winner of this offering 1 pound each of 5 different varieties of green coffee beans from my horde. Between now and 6 PM EST on Wednesday November 21st, every person that indicates that they are interested by replying to this thread will be entered. Your position in the thread will determine your number. For example, the 6th person to say "I'm in" will be assigned #6. I will use www.random.org to select the lucky winner. I will pay for shipping so this costs you nothing. If you have never roasted your own, you are missing out.

Just a bit more good B & B Mojo for the well groomed.

-Scott

As a former winner of this great prize, I can honestly say it was one of the best packages I ever received in the mail, along side the mail order bride sampler Nick sent me. :thumbup1:

I'm not in, but congrats in advance to the lucky winner.

I'm still roasting the 10 lbs I won in a previous giveaway. It's great fun showing friends the beans that I won in a shaving forum contest and watching their reactions: "You won green coffee beans from a forum where you talk about shaving?!?"

No entry for me.

Good luck you guys!

Thanks Scott and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

Tick....Tock - less than 4 hours to go......

I think there are ~25 so far for the beans and a few for the wife sampler pack of Jay's. I can't for the life of me imagine what I would do with an entire pack of wives telling me what I am doing wrong.........

The post corresponding to the number selected by www.random.org belongs to michaelskar. Congrats to you Michael and if you will PM your shipping info off to me I will get your package of beans on it's way before the weekend is over. Feel free to ask any questions if they come up. I am happy to help and the population of B & B roasters continues to grow.

Christmas (or your holiday of choice) is around the corner so there is a good chance we will do this again soon.

Everyone have a safe and happy Thanksgiving and special thanks go out to those that are not able to be with their families because of their service keeping us safe.

I'm surprised to see so many roasters here! I've been at it for a few years roasting in a modified Popcorn Pumper with great results. I get all my beans from Sweet Marias and seem to prefer Yirgacheffe, Anything from Yemen, Terazu and the killer Central American Geshas that are trickeling in. I brew pretty much exclusively in a Cona Vacpot.

Just wanted to say I received the beans yesterday afternoon and they look GREAT.

I don't have the names here in front of me, but there was a columbian, a kenya AA, an ethiopian, a sumatran...and 1 more (I will post the actual names of bean types when I get home). I am really excited about trying out home-roasting this weekend!

Thanks so much, Scott, for the super-generous gift!

As a hands on, old school, renaissance kind of guy (or cheapskate neanderthal, if you prefer) I've been roasting my beans in a cast iron skillet out on the deck. I found that a batch approximately 1/2 pound works perfectly in a 10" skillet. Decidedly low tech, to be sure, but it forces me to stand over the beans and constantly stir, which provides a good peak into what's going on as they roast.
You should get at least ten sessions out of that package, and by the end you should feel somewhat decent about your results.

What a great gift! :a14:

Interesting method! Do you just heat the skillet on the BBQ grill?

Tried that- not the best.

The side burner works like a charm.
