Gem blades?

I ordered what i think is a Gem Demaskeen last night, Now i am wondering where i can get blades for this? I hope they are close to being as cheap as the Astra, Derby and Dorco blades i am currently using in my DEs. I have seen GEM single edge blades on the bay that say industrial use only on them. That cant be what i want... Is it?

DON'T USE THE INDUSTRIAL BLADES!!! THEY ARE NOT FOR SHAVING!!! Look at you local drug stores and grocery stores. Walgreen's sells GEM SS blades, while CVS sells there brand carbon steel blades. If you are using the carbon steel blades make sure that you take them out of the razor and dry or they will rust quickly. Welcome to the world of SE shaving!!!

If you find you love SE shaving look in the sticky about SE Info at the top I this sub forum and you can find some sites where you can make bulk purchase of blades. SE blades are a bit more expensive than DE blades but still way more economical than cartridge razors.

Problem is, i live in Halifax, Nova Scotia and as a result of this i have no Walgreens or CVS. I have searched locally before and have not found a single GEM blade. Everything i purchase must be done online.

+1. You can also get PTFE blades from EMS, Ted Pella, and many different SE blades from razorbladesandmore, shoeboxshaving, and West Coast Shaving).

Yes, it's hard finding SEs blades here in Canada.... although I did find a 5-pack of Rexall-labelled DEs for $5.97 at PharmaPlus.

Gary's sample shop (one of the B&B vendors) sells some of these for a low cost. It may be worthwhile to try a few out before you invest in 100+. I've found I don't care for these Gem PTFE ones, personally.

Yes, those are what many refer to as "Pella" blades. Industrial in this case means that they're made for preparing medical specimens for microscopy. They're quite sharp and give an excellent shave. I use them nearly exclusively and regularly get 12-14 shaves from one blade. YMMV, of course.

Considering the Pella blades last 3 to 4 times longer than most DE blades- I consider them a good buy. Also- the Damaskeene is just a terriffic razor!

Fwiw I can not stand them, they rip up my face.
I find carbon blades much smoother and sharper with out the huge amounts of burn. Maybe it is my heavy beard but those kill my neck on atg passes.

Treet blades from rite aid are where its at for me
