Started making lather with the BK8 sucked. I switched to the Boar bristle ah yes
it made a much better lather more quick. nice hard exfoliation on the face.
pretty impressive soap for $3,25. Face feels really awesome now. if that is due to Santal a/s balm or Wilkinson no idea the wilkinson cake has Cocos Nucifera listed as one of the ingredients.

Last shave was on saturay pretty good job today. Feather rules !

What's the Vulfix Sandalwood like?

Nice! It's from Scotto the Sample King, and it's my first Vulfix or sandalwood scented cream (I'm still about a month into the wetshaving biz, as evidenced by the boar brush and eBay razor :)). It smelled very strong when I shaved with it, but apparently it wore off quickly -- my girlfriend said that it smelled good (not too strong) an hour later.

The Nancy Boy shampoo and conditioner are good stuff. Jury still out on the face wash - a few days will tell.

This was my first shave with the Simpson. What a difference, whoa. There are about two times the bristles in the Chubby compared to the Vulfix 2234 - it is so much denser it is unbelievable. Prebloom it was very straight and full but it bloomed like crazy after the first shave; it is only going to get bigger if that was any indication. It is shorter than the Vulfix by a few millimeters but already much wider. Much stiffer yet softer, holds it shape well and holds boat loads more water than I am used to so I had some trouble with my lather today. The Castille is good stuff but similar to other neroli-based colognes like JF I think. -- Dennis

In the past, I've gotten good lather and great shaves from the Will G soap. Today, I used significantly more water than usual and it just erupted into great lather!! I'll mention it again, if you're shaking water out of your brush, your lather may be suffering. Even if you use a little too much water, just whip it a little longer in your mixing bowl and it will thicken up nicely and you may be surprised by the volume you end up with. Or, just work it on your face longer, enjoy the feel of that luxurious badger hair you've spent your hard earned money on, and it will thicken up as well. This assuming you're not trying to scrip on soap or cream and use a decent amount. I typically use at least the size of an almond on creams and at least 30 seconds working the brush on a hard soap. The other variable is how long it's been since you've cleaned your brush. A new brush will hold much more water than a brush that's been used for some time so give those brushes a cleaning from time to time. As usual, YMMV.

Im getting great shaves now doing the 4 passes but my technique grew significantly and those Feather blades really help doing the 4 passes had 3 shaves now with the feather blades in a row.not a single nick 4 months DE shaving now..

Thanks Rene - not exactly a beginner... My shave is usually 2 N-S passes, and AGT and then checking what got missed with fantastic results. I tried the chevron cuts which I have not really done before not to mention the fact I had a excellent shave yesterday and my stubble was pretty light and short which probably compounded the problem. -- Dennis

-shower started using an ordinary hard soap . then I must have forgotten the SHAMPOO was looking too much forward to my shave that I FORGOT the shampoo I didnt even know till im writing the SOTD. :eek:

3 passes Fatboy on 9. 1 full pass with just PSO (setting 6) all over the face doing across the grain pass. I went quite fast with the hole shave. end results 4 tiny nicks.
in the end 2 nicks showed /kept on the face like a crust thing when your hurt on your skin.

still excellent shave ! very happy PSO rules for me.

It went phenomenally! it passed the G/F test she sat and watched me at first to see make sure that I did not slit my throat or something.

I used a Gillette D1 that was part of an 8 razor auction that I won on wednesday. I cleaned, sanitized, scoured, polished and oiled 3 of them, one a Z1 and the other a B2 they all cleaned up very nicely. Popped in a Derby that i got from letterk as part of the 5 blade sampler pack.

Lathered up with my cheapo burmashave brush I got at the grocery store (I will be replaceing this ASAP) using C&E Sweet Almond Oil Cream, and went to town!

It took me 3 passes N-S, S-N, N-S but I finally got a shave that I was satisfied with, I took the advice of everyone here and went slowly, NO NICKS! Splashed the cold water on then went with a nutrogena after shave(haven't found any I like yet locally(anyone got a sampler pack? It's hard to buy them over the internet if you dont know what you are getting.)

While my face does feel raw, I attribute that to this being a new thing

* First try of a Tesco blade and I'm stunned, it's without doubt the sharpest blade available from a normal retailler in the UK and a £2 for 10 an absolute bargain. To look at them you'd think they're a generic unbranded blade as there's nothing printed on the blade but get them inside your razor and you're in for a treat. Big thanks to John (yasuo200365) for the tip.
