Hi guys, i just bought a Gillette Fatboy and wanted to ask a question about the silo doors. With the blade adjuster function set to '1' i twist the lower section of the handle to close the silo doors (fully tightening the lower section of handle in the process). However when i turn the razor upside down (so the head is facing towards the ground) the doors open slightly. Is this as expected? and is there a way to adjust the silo doors so they close more tightly (i noticed, inside the base of the handle, that there was possibly some form of adjuster*unsure if this is adjustable however*).
Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

Mount a blade and see if you still have an issue. I have seen razors whose doors don't close perfectly when empty tighten right up with a blade installed.
Also, with the adjuster set low on 1, the head assembly needs to take up more slack. Do you feel the compression spring tightening during the last quarter-turn or so? Your spring could be loaded with gunk that prevents it from fully tightening the razor.
There is no "adjustment" for the doors . . . the assembly uses the compression spring to adjust the closure and compensate for the blade gap changes that take place through the range of adjustment. At the bottom end of the handle is the end cap which was threaded on early models, crimped on later ones. Behind this cap is the compression spring. If you have a threaded cap it is easy to take it off and remove the spring for cleaning if needed.

Hey thanks Brad. Will check that when i get home tonight (fyi - my original test was done with no blade installed).
