LEA "lanolized" stick + New Forest 2213 Silvertip + UFObull "Long" with Muhle R41 2010 head and Gillette Platinum #3 + LEA balm with Aqua Velva


This week I'll be testing this new LEA "lanolized" stick comparing it with the old one. I hope to get some conclusions and posting a helpful review later, hehe. This shave has gone smooth, this UFObull handle makes that Muhle head shaves even better! And I like much this small NF, has a really good balance between backbone and softness in his tips!

First outing of the season this morning on my mountain bike, and very enjoyable it was, only a short one around 15 miles along the Taff trail, dont do a lot of off road stuff, well i am 53 after all, just thee occasional forestry track, then back home shower and a nice shave, weather starting to look good for the week ahead so i'll be out again on thursday.

So to clear up anything I did not buy a brand new Muhle razor that uses same head as my EJ. This is the same attachment I use from my BChrome. A generous B&B member sold there R41 handle to me b/c i've always liked it. I used to have an R41 but sold it off. But before I did, I swapped the handles with my EJ and it just sang. I'm happy to just have an extra handle and not the razor head not being used lol. Also I've had my SOC for 2 years. It is fully broken in and don't reach for it as much due to a lot less backbone. Anyways, enough from me. I hope you all have an Excellent Start of the Week!

Because I've been getting up so late and not prepping correctly, I decided to do a quick face wash. I think it really helped prepare my skin for the blade. I have a very close to BBS shave thanks to MWF and the fact for the first time, I added soap in the middle of the second pass because I didn't load enough. Still a great shave and I love the Alt-Innsbruck scent!

That was definitively one of my best shaves ever. Using the Kampfe Bros. without any pressure and in an angular degree between 25 to 35, it gives me such a smooth shave. It`s a great pitty that Noxzema doesn`t produce the shaving cream in tube anymore. Although I am normally using shaving soaps or creams, the Noxzema Classic shaving foam is really good and I like the scent of it very much.

Many years have passed since I tried last time this stick. I haden't good memories about it, but today I was surprised: it is more "foamy" than modern lanolized stick and you can shave without much problem if you uses good razor and blades like today. It doesn't have remarkable propiertes anyway, but I must continue comparing both sticks to get strong conclusions.

There have been quite of few review/comparisons between SMN and the ever so famous Proraso/Omega SS. I used to have the Omega SS before I sold it off as a deal on BST. It was the old formulation and was practically the re-branded Proraso SS. Is there a difference? I do think so b/c of the added Lanolin. The post shave feeling ranks higher. Also the lather is a bit creamier as well as moisturizing/protecting. But this is in no way saying Proraso should not be purchased b/c I believe every wetshaver should own on and try it! BTW this NB ASGel pairs well with anything menthol. Have a great day my Friends!

I decided it's about time to try shaving with a straight this morning. WTG pass with the straight was pretty bad. I still haven't commited myself to a full straight razor shave. The rest of the shave was with the Open Comb and it was fantastic. I really enjoy the scent of Jermyn St and the performance is awesome. Tossed on some matching aftershave and I'm ready for work! I though I might try a different angle in this picture and I think it came out very good. First time I've ever done anything but a straight-on shot of my shave gear. Have a great day Gents!

So the only blade I ever use are Red IPs b/c its the only one that works the best for me. But I forgot that I still have a fresh new pack of Derby's. The first time I ever tried them, I threw it in garbage can before finishing my first pass. But that was when I was learning my technique and new wet shaving two years ago. But now its second nature. Even though I tried this blade a second time, I should give it some more time. I think its a blade that gets better with use but Derby isn't the only one. Have a great day my friends!

GOLIATH - The Parker 98R is not your ordinary razor. It weighs 4.3 oz and has a 1/2" thick handle. The heft alone is quite impressive. Surprisingly enough for a Parker, the 98R is an aggressive razor - reminding me of an open comb NEW. There is a 1/16" blade gap, so the blade is less protected. You keenly feel the blade edge as you shave. You do have to focus on using negative pressure with this massive razor. I opened up a few weepers on my chin in a moment of hurry. This may be my favorite razor ever.

The Blend - The mildly scented CC Amber was overwhelmed and obliterated by the C.O. Bigelow eucalyptus. However, the glycerin did add a nice lubrication to the lather. Enough for 3 passes - no more.

The Frag - SCS Patchouli Edt is simply one of the best ever.

Wow! I think it's been a whole week since I've been able to post an SOTD. My travel shaves were very mundane and the same every day. The best part about this trip was that I got my Scrupleworks strop back. I inadvertently left it in Texas in February. My son had it for safe keeping ( He does use a DE!) and now it is back home. It may be my imagination, but I'm convinced the linen adds something.

Just getting started with DE shaving... but here is my tools of the trade as of tonight. The razor is a Merkur 3 piece (unsure of the model) with a Feather blade. The brush is a Rubberset (unsure of the hair - likely boar). And yes, that is a cappuccino bowl I am using to lather up the cream... :001_cool:

I quite like the scent of the aftershave lotion - and it does a nice job moisturizing, too..

I'll maintain this shave routine until I deplete current ASB and shaving cream. Whichever lasts longer. Then I'll switch to Azzaro PH AS and Fatip Piccolo / Feather / one of JabonMan's masterworks :drool:. Until I deplete Azzaro. Fatip is supposed to be in the mail :crying: :a52:.

WOW! Now that I've figured out this MW soap, I'm really liking it a lot. I went with a slightly wetter brush to start. The lather was much better hydrated and whipped up into a great lather. I had enough for three passes with lather averaging about 1/4-1/2 inch deep each time. I still need to dial it in just a touch as I got it just on the wet side, but this stuff performs once you do get a stable lather. I recently rehoned the Manaslu (just a full nagura progression touch up) and it was sharp and smooth. I am sporting a CBS, and I am proud to admit it!

I know mentioned that JBM Violetas smelled amazing and was one my favorites. It's still is but BOY OH BOY this EJ-Muhle Sea Buckthorn SS is just Exquisite! Its has gone on top my rotation b/c the aroma is that great and love it. Also its EJ/Muhle and doesn't smell anything close to being artificial IMHO. The puck is pretty small but seems tougher than it being triple milled so it looks like that it will last for quite some time. Any who the lather was awesome, just use the famous "Marco's Method"! Its a great soap! You all have a wonderful day my friends!

The Parker 98R continues to perform well. It commands respect... No weepers today, but I did raise a tad of a burn on the neck while rushing a bit... The Mayan Gold is a treasure, blended with the TOBS cream, it is an awesome fragrant lather concoction.
SCS Patchouli Edt is simply one of the best ever - wearing it a 2nd day in a row - because I like it so much.

I was reading the shaving brush sub-forum last night and got caught up reading the thread about the Cella bowl and how people generally move the soap over to a larger container. Well I can't see this soap in anything but this red tub so I decided to maybe buy a new boar brush since my SOC has way too much splay to be effective. Then someone mentioned that they were using a Classic 1. I havent touched my Classic brush ever since I bought my Rudy Vey brush. I figured that the next day I would put my neglected brush to use and see if I still even liked this brush .
I wet the brush "old world italian barber/Marco's method style" and proceeded to swirl.
I don't understand how this brush holds so much lather. It held enough for 3 passes. Not enough for touchups but I don't generally need more than 3 passes unless I'm going out. I forgot how a brush could have enough backbone to pick up soap but feel awesomely soft on the face while still slightly exfoliating.
Yesterday I was seriously contemplating selling this brush because I haven't used it in such a long time. Today I am determined to set a true rotation for my brushes because they all deserve to be used.
What a great brush to compliment a great shave!

Never tried it myself since we don't have it here in Sweden but I've heard that Barbasol is the best of the canned stuff and an actual decent product and good value.

Barbasol is actually pretty darn good. I use it as a preshave sometimes as well as using it to shave with. To me, it outperforms any of the Gillette Foams or Edge Gels, and works well in a pinch.

The one soap I have always been consistent with has been MWF. Don't know what it is about that soap but I do believe its the best bang for your buck SS. I know people say ARKO is the best for the price, but I got this refill puck for $7 on sale. It's triple milled and lasts forever. This is my third refill puck since the first time I've ever used it. For the longest time I put down my TTO's as I was getting better shaves with other razors. I must admit that I have fallen back in love with my Slim Adjustable, so much so, that I really look forward to using it. Two passes on my face, three on neck with some light buffing and I have a shave that Cary Grant would be envious over.


I have become almost a Product Evangelist for the the TSD Wheat Cream and Soap. Lather on this brush was made with about 10 swirls of soap, a dap of cream, and less than a teaspoon of water. I only worked it for about 45 seconds before taking this picture, the stuff just explodes in the bowl.
