Foggy here in Houston and Christmas displays are everywhere. I find myself downloading Christmas music for the iPod.

This is the first time using this razor. I rescued it and a similar one for a buck each a while back. Both are copper and brass. Nasty looking then, but a long soak in some Simple Green dissolved the gunk and some Maas put a nice shine on them. A nephew has the other one. Have a good week everyone.

The Musgo real shaving cream is fantastic! The scent reminded me of a cross between speick and clubman, so I used the clubman AS for fun. At lunch today I will be running over (driving over, actually) to the caswell-massey and getting the musgo real aftershave...the scent of this one was amazing...talked myself out of it in the store, but have now talked myself into it after using the cream.

I've been struggling lately with painful shaves followed by a lot of irritation and bumps the next day if I try to get too close, so rather than going for the BBS look, I've been going for the "acceptably smooth" look, especially while my face heals a bit.

Call me crazy, but this was actually a very comfortable shave. Not the closest I've ever had, but no irritation at all. Heresy, you'll say, I'm sure :tongue:

Had no problem getting good lather with the TJ's Mango SC. No it wasn't the same as Floris, but it was decent. Yes, you have to use more, but at the price, who cares.

I took a photo of this kit with my mobile-phone camera, so apologies in advance:

Pre-Shave: Hot shower, wash face w/Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Magic Soap . . .

Lather: GFT Cream, whip in my large Moss Scuttle with Kingsley boar-bristle brush; gradually adding water always does the trick . . .

Shave: Gillette Fusion, third shave w/blade cartridge; three passes--with, against, across grain; taking my time translates into very smooth results . . .

Post-Shave: Bello Bay Rum After-Shave from Dominica definitely wakes me up; BTW, has anyone in the US bought Floid recently? Finally . . .

Smelly Stuff: Floris Santal EDT; my 50 ml bottle has almost run-out, and I've liked it well enough to look forward to picking up 100 ml.

My first morning shave in quite some time...man, it really does start the day off right. The tabac, as usual, performed exceptionally well, and the Musgo real aftershave complimented it nicely. The 4711 is nice, but the scent, already short-lived at best, was completely overshadowed by the Musgo.

start with a rub of sharps citrus bite toner. then a hot shower, rub whiskers with my experimental pears soap mix . a small bit of derby normal cream in the hot brush, lather up on the face. three passes with a gillette fatboy on setting 4 . rinse off . massage in some clubman special reserve mixed w/witch hazel and glycerin. pretty good feel/look and smell :smile:

I see you are shaving with trumper's new formulation violet. How does it shave, how's the scent? Is it worth picking up a tub? Obviously, I'm intrigued by the violet but have been hesitant to pick up a tub because of all the reformulation talk. If you are using it, I would assume it still shaves rather well and is still enjoyable? Any comments you have on the new violet would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

First shave with my new Mergress! I have to sort out the best setting, but very nice shave, razor handle quite well. The blade was the Merkur that came with the razor - bit sharp for me, but overall very nice!
