Hello (again) all,
the name's Ian, and I haunted the site years back, but cannot, for the life of me, remember my username. So after losing my shaving brush on a Greyhound in Portland, I thought I'd stop by again. Began wet-shaving as a freshman at university after I moseyed into Colonial Drug in Harvard Square, and I now have converted my brother and several friends (and have a fantastic lady friend who does, too--finally, a SO that puts up with my habits!).
My regular kit includes a Parker TTO razor, Trufitt and Hill creams and aftershave, a few bars of soap whose manufacturer escapes me, and a requisite bottle of Old Spice aftershave. I'm a sucker for the smell.
I travel west from Boston a couple times a year, and keep at my mother's a Merkur travel razor and a tub of Classic brand cream to minimize hassle when flying; I try to pack as light as possible. But it's looking like I may be moving out here in the near future, anyway. Ah, the beauty of being an under-employed creative type.

And then there's also the vintage Gilette a relative promised to pass on when it's found...

That said, my $35 shave brush is now history, presumably floating around Oregon somewhere. Any suggestions, or perhaps a retailer in Seattle while I'm visiting? I know there's an Art of Shaving in Bellevue, but that's where my knowledge ends.

Try Ward & Co they are on 4th at Rainier Square in downtown Seattle. The manager there, Michael Scott (no, not that one) had a lot of good information. Oh, and welcome back.

Welcome back! You've got some reading to do on B&B about brushes, though...lots better choices than any brushes Art of Shaving has to offer.

Welcome! I spent some time living in Oregon and working in the Pacific Northwest - best place in the world as far as I'm concerned. Happy trails!

Thanks, all. I'm heading into North Seattle today and will most certainly stop into Ward and Co. I tend to avoid malls of all stripes, but if I recall, Rainier Square has some pretty swank shops.
And Mayhem- thanks for the welcome back to the NW. Even when I'm in Tacoma, I miss it here terribly. Especially the hiking. New England is great, but it's just not the same.

Welcome aboard the good ship B&B. Take a stroll on the promenade deck and enjoy the voyage. :thumbup1:

Always remember, relax but be vigilant when you shave!

It was certainly an experience buying a bottle of Jack Black from Michael Scott; that's all I can say.
