I thought I'd try a new soap. I won a razor on ebay from a gent who is also a member here. He operates an ebay store and being a fan of Tabac I bought a puck of Gold-Dachs. You do not hear much talk about this soap on B&B. Simply superb. The German soaps are really great. Dachs seems to have more perfume top notes with a fresh, clean underlying bouquet. It lathers quick and very thick. I've been using different French soaps lately and I noticed that while none of them dry my face out, the French soaps leave my face with a taut firmness and the German ones seem more moisturizing and my face feels more natural and pliable. I'm sure this has to do with the ingredients and it's neat to be able to discern the differences between products. I highly recommend trying Gold-Dachs, about $20.00 and you can find it here: http://stores.ebay.com/The-Classic-Shaving-Store

I bought a cake recently and I find the smell a little overpowering. I am letting it breathe a while before I try it.

Great soap, near the top of a very short list of favorites.

i had gold-dachs soap from that seller on my watch list for a long time but when i finally decided to take the plunge the listing had ended. a new listing was quickly put up, but the price jumped $2 from $17 to $19 and when i asked why, the response was "others charge $20 per puck an besides, i only have 8 left" and i didn't like the tone. coupled with the $10 shipping I decided to drop it. instead i bought 2 pucks from a german seller for under $40 shipped. (which is nice because i've heard it's a great soap but it is small so 2 pucks equals the size of other average pucks) i'm still waiting to receive them, but i'm definately excited

It's nice stuff. FYI - it'll be in the B&B sampler kits

Bumping this post to give a little more exposure to this excellent soap. As Joel noted above, a sample of this appeared in the comprehensive sampler kits. At first I kind of overlooked it in my initial foray into the box, as the sample was a small tube about the size of three-quarters of a cigarette, wrapped in a paper envelope with an unfamiliar name on the front. But I worked my way through the samples and this one really jumped out as an excellent performer. I was amazed at how much lather that little ciggy of soap produced after a few swipes!

I wasn't wild about the scent, but it did strike me as very "German"...let the French and English have their florals and fougeres, this scent will NEVER be mistaken for that of your wife's fancy face soap.

Ah yes, the little stick that could. I too liked the shave I got with the Gold Dachs. Now if someone (Joel ,Nick) could tell us whom to get it from or who they got it from. I am sure a few of use will put some money down.....

I don't know where the samples came from, but is this what you're looking for? I noticed it the other day at Vintage Blades.
