Mornin' Gents,
As I was shaving this morning using Charles' Mocha Java Shave Stick (Absolutely enjoying it, I might add), a thought came to me...
I know that every time there is a whiff of a limited edition shaving soap from Charles, there is a whole lot of chatter on the board. With good reason. Charles' stuff is outta this world! Wild Rose, Bathtub Gin, and now Violetta.
I guess what I am trying to say is that people shouldn't overlook his standard offerrings.
I, myself, am guilty of buying the latest, greatest, and exclusive for whatever reasons.
Me pulling out the Mocha Java Shave Stick from the back of the vault this morning kind of just made me remember why I fell in love with his products in the first place.
Please forgive me if I didn't make sense or expand on my thoughts a bit more.
It's Wednesday and well....It's Wednesday.
Regards B & B,

Indeed, QED's soaps are top notch. The Lime and Sandalwood are must haves if you ask me.

Lime and Sandalwood are no doubt QED's staples. Allow me to add how fond I am of Bergamot. Insofar as citrus scents are concerened, Bergamot is one very refined option!

Those are two modern day classics. The must haves from Charles. In my mind, QED soaps are the benchmark of glycerin soaps in both performance and scent.

I can't beleive I forgot to mention Lavendar. Charles' Lavendar is THE lavendar par excellence.

I think the reason the special edition QED soaps are so popular is BECAUSE Charles' regular offerings are some of the best-smelling soaps on the market.
I suspect that most of the folks who load up on the special editions are just adding to their existing QED stash!

Most definitely, Chris!
I just didn't want newbies to QED soaps to overlook what Charles already has to offer and even veterans to forget why we all wet our pants for his limited editions.
I, for one, fell in love with his soaps, Lime and Mocha Java, before I got in line for Bathtub Gin and Wild Rose.::001_tt1:

Which burns me like fire (but I still use it from time to time anyhow because it smells so darn good!).

that was my most recent purchase from Charles, truly an extraordinary scent, especially if you're into his Sandalwood.
I reckon Chuck would definetly use Charles' Frankincense & Myrrh :kyle1:

+1 I have found nothing to lather as effortlessly as my QED soaps.

Hi guys,
Long time reader, first time poster. I have used several of Charles' soaps - Sandalwood, Special 218 and Lemon and Cedar. They all provide a top notch shave.
I am ready to place a new order, and am curious about good scents for the winter. For me, Sandalwood is a must. However, I would like to try something new as well.
To that end, I am curious about QED's Frankincense & Myrrh soap. Can someone describe this scent for me? Is it one that a forty year old guy (who teaches middle school) can wear without seeming out of place?
Thanks for your thoughts.
Sean
Don't forget Charles' B&B scented soap. It is muy bueno.

Was there any doubt?
QED soaps are the quintessential glycerin soaps in terms of performance and scent. They are not the cheapest of the glycerin soaps, but they are a bargain at twice the price. And is it just me, or do these seem to last longer than other glycerin soaps? The Sandalwood is phenomenal, I'd gladly pay $20-25 bucks for this stuff (No PMs). Never, ever been the slightest bit disappointed with ANY of Charles' offerings. I'm a triple-milled fan, but will keep QED soaps at hand at all times and will probably be the only glycerin soaps I buy anymore.

Kind of like the incense at church and not the cr*p they sell at the gas station. A little Old Spice-y and smoky to me. Great stuff!!

The Vanilla does the same to me but I still use it every once in a while as well. Sometimes I cut it with KMF Vanilla Earth.

Don't worry, Charles is a great guy. Give him a call or drop him an email, he will take care of you.

The only two things I have tried from QED are the B&B shavestick and the grapefruit & peppermint. Both items burned my skin something fierce. I have been apprehensive to try anything else because of this. Maybe I will give the mocha java a try.

Just tried QED Bergamot for the first time today! I've been using creams exclusively for the past year and a half or so. All I can say is WOW!! Can't wait for my Tabac to show up next week. I'm gonna be converted to soaps soon!!
The reason that I stuck with creams for soooo long is that every time I tried lathering the soap in a bowl (something I becamse used to doing with creams), the lather would come out all wrong. Ever since realizing that lathering soaps on the face works so much better, I've given soaps a shot again and it seems to work out great!

Out of the half dozen or so scenst I've tried, the grapefruit and peppermint was the only one that seemed to burn my skin. Being a fan of citrus, I've found the wild orange and lime to be fantastic ... intense smell and a great lather.

Dear god the peppermint made my face feel like it had frost bite when I splashed cold water on it. Wow, it was actually kind of nice but REALLY intense.
