Hello there! Yesterday I was talking with my dad about shaving and he mentioned he had some stuff I might be interested in. He is a barber and has collected a few things over the years. I'll post a thread for each razor, and one for the mugs/scuttle.. He didn't know much about them, but I told him I would try to see what I could find out here and let him know. My dad bought all of these mugs back in the 80's from a Dallas antiques dealer who specialized in shaving mugs.

First is a glass mug with etched birds on the sides, there are no markings I can see.

Next is a white ceramic? mug with a marking on bottom of a sitting lion and "MADE IN BAVARIA"

Next is a hand painted mug with purple flowers on it.

Next is a scuttle with branches and what appears to be bread loaves hanging (this one is probably my favorite!)

And finally a thick mug mug with a crest on it that sais "NONNOBISSOLUM" and then has what looks like a column with the word "HOME" and a sword that sais "Protection" above it and the initials M.O.P.

Not pictured is a thich all white full palm sized mug with no handle. It is made of some kind of stone and is marked "CORNING T.M. REGULAR MADE IN U.S.A." on the bottom.
Any help you guys can give on these or the razor posts I put up is much appreciated! Thanks in advance!

Can't help you on the ones pictured, but I think that your handle-less Corning mug is probably what is called a "Watch Mug." These heavy, thick mugs were manufactured by Corning during the 40's and 50's for the U.S. military. They were filled with hot beverages (usually coffee) and held by a sailor with both hands while standing watch on the deck of a ship. The heavy glass held the heat of the coffee and helped warm the cold hands of the watch-stander. Although not specifically a shave mug, their size and appearance works great for that purpose.

Here's an example:

Thanks Evil malkil! I'm starting to wonder if that mug belonged to a police unit or something like that. The "Non nobis solum" would make sense as would the "protection" sword. I'm I correct in assuming that you're somewhat of a Latin scholar from your signature quote?

Masonic, I think. The references I found to MOP were fairly cryptic, though.

Thanks Mblakele! Again, I am amazed with the knowledge and helpfulness of the B&B folks!

I think M.O.P. is a home fraternity in Bastrop TX (which is 5 hours from where my dad got the mug.) I found a cemetery record of a stone that read "Price, John F. Jr., b. 9/13/1879, d. 1/3/1909, Non-Nobis-Solum Protection, M.O.P. Home Fraternity" Here's the link: http://www.interment.net/data/us/tx/bastrop/alum_creek.htm
