Appreciate any suggestions for creams that smell soapy(i.e. Ivory) and perform well.

Thanks,

Derby "Normal" Shaving Cream. Clean, soapy and will not be confused with a citronella candle or urinal cake.

White tube with blue writing?

I've never heard of shaving with a candle, nor a urinal cake. Is this a Chicago thing?

Valobra shave stick has a clean, vanillaish, ivory soap scent....what I imagined Arko smelling like :closedeye

Correct, great stuff IMO

Is this a joke? If not...Williams if often equated with smelling like a citronella candle...and Arko, some noses take the ultra clean, sharp smell to be very similar to a urinal cake.

O Melhor has an "Ivory Soap" smell to my nose, another clean scent is La Toja SC.

...like I'm gonna believe someone from Las Vegas?

Just in case, the regular or sensetive skin La Toja?

Also, where to buy O Melhor?

Godrej pucks go for about forty cents in India. Someday I will have one shipped to me so I can see what the fuss is about.

As for soapy clean scent, the old formulation of Erasmic has almost no scent whatsoever and works pretty well. Too bad it was reformulated and repackaged recently. If you can't find a product that smells like Ivory soap, Erasmic may fit as a second choice. Surprisingly Arko creams smell nothing like the soap stick, the smell of the Maximum Comfort is also nonexistent and it lathers up really well. Also, Arko creams haven't been reformulated in the past couple of years so you can actually find some (Bestshave.net has it).

+ 1 on arko. The real shaving company isn't too great but smells like a mix between ivory and something medicinal.

TOBS Shaving Shop and Godrej are the cleanest smelling creams I have come across.

Palmolive Classic basically smells like generic soap. It's about as "soapy" smelling as you can get.

Another vote for Palmolive classicYup. Got a tube in a package deal on BST. I am surprised how much I like it. Clean and fresh. Shaves pretty good too.

If we were to include soaps, I would say that D.R. Harris almond soap is about the cleanest smelling I have used. I have not tried D.R. Harris almond cream which I understand has an almondish scent, but the soap has a clean, quinine-type smell - not a trace of almond scent.

I just got some Erasmic--that's what got me thinking I like the soapy thing.

Do you have the old formulation in the red-capped metal tube or the new black-capped plastic tube? I have only used the old red-cap formulation.

Personally I like C&E - Sienna is quite a clean, soapy smell (though others may disagree). But I hear that it's difficult to find in the US at the moment.

Mine has the large black cap, but the tube is metal. I never tried the old formula, but I do like this one.

i'd stay away from Arko if you're focused on the scent, because it seems to be such a hit-or-miss item. i personally liked the scent and i didn't understand what all the complaints were about, before i PIFed my arko stick to a new shaver. looks like the consensus is Palmolive and that doesn't surprise me.

The Body Shop Maca Root. It smells like fresh laundry, kind of clean soapy with a fresh scent.

Real Shaving Co is good stuff too, but smells more Tea Tree Oil-ish.

Arko Stick is exactly what you describe but a soft soap, excellent stuff!

+1 on TOBS shaving shop. Very sharp and clean scent. Whenever my brush builds up too much fragrance from all of my soaps and creams I lather up some shaving shop and it freshens up my brush very nicely.

The La Toja Regular and Sensitve have the same scent, the Regular may be a bit stronger.

O Melhor; http://www.theportugalonlineshop.com/health-beauty/shaving-grooming/o-melhor-shaving-cream-confianca-100ml

The O Melhor is a bit thicker than most other SC and contains Lanolin, I empty my tube into a Tub to load my brush. They also carry the Veleiro & Top Secret, both Soapy scented SCs, and have the best price on 444 ASB.

I don't trust many people from Vegas either :wink2:

FYI Arko soap smells soapy to me, Arko creams depends, they have a few. The "Cool" one has a menthol kick to it and is probably a little less "soapy smelling", the other ones (moisturizing and sensitive skin?) are more neutral and just soap smelling.
Hope this helps some more.

Just used Arko Cool today and have to change my post. While it does have the menthol feel etc., it does have a soapy smell above any menthol or eucalyptus smell.

TOBS Jermyn St. Cream has a very clean, soapy scent. I think it's marketed for sensitive skin, and I can't discern any added scent.
