Nice weekend diversion with the Gillette NEW razor but it's great to be back with my 38C. It had been a while since I used the NEW. I couldnt' tell the difference in the shave immediately afterwards but I was definitely smoother much further into the day with the NEW. I was also a little more sensitive in the neck areas so there was a cost for the late-day smoothness.

One week ago I returned to multiple passes, I spent 3-4 weeks using the Lady's gillete with different blades and only creams. Interesting experiment, I can get a pretty decent shave with one pass.

Razor: Gillette Fusion, already a bit dull by my fourth shave with it :frown:

Post-Shave: Weleda Calendula Lotion. Truth told, I learned how well this lotion soothes and moisturizes--and how good it smells--when applying it to my daughter's skin after baths. :sneaky2:

I find it at least as effective as any other post-shave I've tried, though I must admit that I have not yet used Trumper's Skin Food.

Smelly Stuff: Floris Summer Limes

Overall: Just shy of BBS, but with a bit of irritation, so the post-shave lotion proved handy . . .

Switching back to Derby's from fairly regular use if IP's. The IP's are smoother but feel less sharp - need a little more tug/pressure. The Derby's are sharper but a little (only a little) more harsh. Just need a little more care with the Derby's, than the IP's, glad to be switching back to them for a bit.

I have been on vacation for all week and I have been using the following:

Hotel brand soap for the pre-shave
Aluminum Gillette tech-style razor made in England
American Personna blade
Palmolive green

Various samples of ASB my wife has collected for me.

All in all, good shaves. The razor was part of a travel kit a friend bought me a few months ago and this is the first time I have used it. It was a tad light and getting a BBS shave took a bit more work, but with some blade buffing the results were fine. Hey, I was on a vacation and I was in no hurry to do anything.

Now that I am back the set up for the week end is:

I really like the vintage Yardley soaps.
I have a cake of the Yardley Lavendar also,the one I used today
I believe the call Yardley Original,now I just need the cologne to go
with it.
Both of the soaps I have lather really well,not as good as the top shelf soaps
but pretty darn close.

WOW. What a lather combination. I already had some really good stuff going on my bowl from just the Conks, then I scooped up just a bit of the Floris and stuck it right in my brush, then started working up this most amazing lather. This stuff was so smooth and cushiony, I was able to go "ATG" in places that I wouldn't normally dare try. Big thumbs up for this superlather combo. :thumbup:
