hi all,
I was just wondering what your opinions were about adding a little cream to your brush after you have all ready loaded it up with shaving soap. any thoughts?

That would also be called Superlather.

I came up with a nice combination this morning.. Williams Soap + Floris Elite Cream.

Might seem to some guys like having Ramen Noodles with Fillet Mignon, but it worked nice for me!

The Williams soap seems to make a nice base for several combinations.

I made of a Mojito concoction this morning consisting of Mama Bear's Lime Oil soap and Kiss My Face Cool Mint cream.

Is it wrong that I was seriously considering breaking out the mint muddler and rum at 10:00 AM?

If that's wrong, who wants to be right?

Some have voiced their opinion as it being "un-needed". I can totally understand their point of view, however, I am a super-lather man and proud of it. I say give it a shot and see what you think. Personally, and this is not the reason I do it, but I feel super-lather will make my creams last longer as I do not use as much cream as I would if I was using cream alone. It can be particularly helpful if you're using Williams soap also, which needs a little boost in the lathering department.

I did the exact same thing with my Floris samples. Williams soap and Floris Elite (worked great). Floris is sure pricey, but it lathers great. I bet you could get a good lather from Floris cream and dirt

I like the combo of Pirates Cove Lime, which has a fairly strong lime scent, and KMF Key Lime for the additional rich lather. It's a wonderful combo!!

does anyone have an opinion on the kiss my face line of shaving creams? they are the only creams that are locally avaiable to me, otherwise i have to maill order. no big deal but those shipping coasts add up

KMF is top notch I always mix it with soap but it is also good all by itself really good stuff for the price

KMF creams are great. They are the slickest and most moisturizing creams that I have used. The unscented works great in a superlather.

I sometimes use Tabac soap with Body Shop s/c. A Great shave!

Many people here speak well of the KMF cremes. I only have experience with the Key Lime.

The first few times I used it, I found the lather to be pretty thin and even a little runny, even if I was very stingy with the water added.

The other evening I was playing with soaps (c'mon, you know you do it!) and for some reason the stuff lathered like a house on fire. I attribute the luck to a very good brush, and a very hot scuttle, and darn near NO water.

But then, 2 days later when I tried to repeat it, no luck.

So I guess I could say that I find KMF somewhat finnicky. But for the price, maybe that's still reasonable?

Yes...just make sure the cocktail is AFTER the shave. :tongue_sm  :a17:

KMF is good stuff, and as others have noted elsewhere, it's about $0.55/oz ($6.00/11 oz), which is just barely above the level of stealing it. I just bought 2 more bottles, bringing me to 4 total (lavendar, key lime, vanilla, unscented). I often superlather it with VDH as a base, though I've also had reasonably good success using it "straight". I'll have to try it with Williams, too.

ok, that was *nice*

But this evening, it was Conk's Amber Soap + Floris Santal Cream

WOW. Great big gobs of smooth silky lather my friends. Long lasting too. After 4 passes I kind of lost track.. Give it a try!

I think Conk's Amber is a good base. Conk's Amber + ToOBS Lemon Lime is wonderful.

but one of my favorite evening activities is "cold beer hot shower" my company often wonders why there are sometimes empty beer bottles in my shower.

I saw Mantic do that in a video online. I think he called it "superlather". He proclaimed it to be some of the slickest best lubricating shaving one might ever do.
I have yet to try it but it sounds great.
