What, no scores yesterday? Shame on you!
I'll start the week off, then. I got a tub of good old Harris Almond cream. Yum....
http://www.badgerandblade.com/gallery/displayimage.php?imageid=2702
So,
When I heard about the possible upcoming B&B brush I swore that I would cut back on my purchases to save money for this brush. Well, it lasted for about 24 hours. I happened to be at Winners (don't know if the USA and/or European people know of this store or if it is Canada-specific) this evening with SWMBO and saw some highly discounted products from The real shaving Co (I've never seen these products before but thought that it would be worth a try at about $5 Canadian per item). Picked up their Moisturising shave cream, Daily Facial Scrub and Daily Skin Soothing Balm.

Think the package arrived tomorrow:
- 1 bottle Spanish Floid
- 1 bottle Italian Floid

Acquisitions on Wednesday 7th June:
Merkur Slant Bar (Me? With a Slant hahahaha, the blood's gonna flow!)
Feather Blades, finally (Me? With Feathers hahahahahaha, the blood's gonna flow some more!)
Nancy Boy Facial Cleanser
NB Shave Cream
NB Aftershave
Dovo Shavette
Medium blade holders for shavette
Merkur blades for shavette
Fromm SS blades for shavette
A small fortune in customs charges.
OK, so all the hardcore, chainsaw juggling, glass chewing, Harley Davidson owning straight razor users out there will probably hold me in absolute contempt for getting a shavette, the "training bra" of the straight razor world (please note that I have never had any use for an actual training bra before we go on) but after my misadventures yesterday and the day before I prefer to think of it as an ingenious piece of forward thinking on my part.
Warm regards,
Alex

Taylor Rose
Taylor Lemon&Lime
Taylor Avocado
Taylor Lavender
Pre de Provence soap
C&E Sandalwood
Salters Vetiver
Salters Wild Rose
Barbasol brushless cream
The Barbasol is a bit of a novelty. As per Charles of QED (http://www.qedusa.com):
...once the manufacturer's current stock is exhausted, it will no longer be produced.
This cream goes back to at least the early 40's ... and was supplied to the soldiers during WWII. It has a fabulous lilac scent. There is actually a tube in a museum in France that was found on one of the D-Day beaches ... still emanating its wonderful scent.
It does indeed smell intensely of lilacs. i don't think I have ever smelled a grooming product quite like it. Fascinating.
As for the Taylors, this is the first time I have encountered their reformulations. These creams smell quite different from what I am used to. I think I'll do a detailed comparison between new and old to set the record straight once and for all.

Nick,
Tell more about the brush!
Randy
Randy,
I knew if that ebony beauty would catch anyone's eye, it'd be yours.
It's an Edwin Jagger, ebony (style) silvertip with a chrome tipped handle (although I've also been told the finish is nickel plating, not chrome). Knot's probably around 22 mm. No clue on what the model is. Not huge, or super dense, but the bristles are nice and firm, and it's killer on some Tabac or QED.

Nick,
Glad to see you're enjoying that Tabac!
Randy,
In the past two months, that Tabac's been all over Minnesota from the Iowa border to the Canadian border, as well as Wisconsin, Illinois, South Dakota, Northern & Southern California, and even Nevada. It's seen some use to say the least.

Well, after Brian (Madmedic) mentioned colognes at TJ Maxx (http://www.badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2916), I went to the local store (been 1 mile from my house these last 3 years and I've never been in it!). Couldn't find any Pecksniffs but scored a few goodies
Crabtree & Evelyn Sweet Almond Oil Shave Cream for $7 (and I had just bought 2 tubs over the week-end!)
Pre de Provence Verveine soaps ($3)
A Vetiver Linen spray ($3 smell great. I'm keeping this in the car!)
A Lavender/Tea Tree hand soap ($3)So overall I'm a sucker for sales and scents
Then when I got home, my Crabtree & Evelyn box arrived.
A best badger brush for my brother (note alliteration)
A glass tub of Nomad for me
Jojoba hand soaps for SWMBO
A free sample of lavender hand cream for us to share

C&E Almond Shaving Cream, Arko Shaving Sticks, Charles Tyrwhitt Lemon & Cedar Shaving Cream, a Merkur HD Classic, and right in front of him is a check to help finance his California trip that is coming up.
My son, now a man.

From the level in the bottle, it looks like you sampled more than a little! :001_smile I've found it to be good, but a little overpriced. But a friend of mine thinks it's underpriced. You know how it goes from there...

it was a long week & i knew i was blowing off the work day. i like my drinks strong.
as far as the cabo, there is really much better out there. i really enjoy the don julio 1942 (anejo), corazon (reposado), cuervo familia reserva (anejo) & casa noble (reposado & anejo).
i might add that the mezcal i picked up is wicked strong.

no offense taken at all my friend! :w00t:
there are two don julio anejo. one is the regular square bottle & the other is the 1942. if you enjoy the regular stuff you will flip for the 1942!!
my only real decision tonight is, "do i open the corzo OR crack open some new glarus road slush stout". i have the nag buring and the black crowes dvd cranked this very moment.

Just Arrived:
Bottle of Taylor's #74 Victorian Limes as well as samples of Taylor's Shaving Shop SC, Taylor's Lavender SC, Castle Forbes Lime SC. Also are the following cologne samples Penhaligon's English Fern, Floris Santal, L'Artisan Parfumeur, and T&H Clubman/Freshman/Trafalgar.
Anyone have any opinions about any of these samples? I was unaware that I'd receive any samples and am looking forward to trying them out.

Jeff,
He's going to attend the UofU beginning this fall. He's still undecided on a major, so like so many, will be working on basics. Other than that, I don't know. So far, he hasn't mentioned touring Europe or anything like that!

First order from QED. Lime and Patchouli/Tea Tree/Peppermint shave sticks, DaVinci water, green clay mask. The sticks smell fantastic. I cant stop smelling the lime. Almost took a bite so I had to put it away.

Thanks Rene. It's a great little tool, well worth the money and perfect for the beginner. I'm flying up to Washington Monday and will give him the brush, a tub of C&E Sweet Almond, and sample of Taylor's Avocado.
This is my "pack the travel kit" week-end, so I'll post some thoughts on essential creams for a long road trip :w00t:

I really love the Taylor's Shave Shop (see my SOTD (http://www.badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?p=30226#post30226)), there's a thread on the CF Limes (http://www.badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=2952)where no one dislikes it. Lavender is a scent that I can only take when it is very light. I traded my tub of Taylor's Lavender for Rose with the Lathermeister.
Randy,
congrats on your boy's graduation. Mine graduated this year as well--no shaving supplies, just a travel check and a $200 steak dinner for the family

Im going out need to get myself the so talked hyped about Tabac soap and a fellow countrymen said I could get it at the DA. hmmm I did see TABAC EDT and a/s and lotion.
The girl asked can you find it ? I said no im looking for the Tabac Shave soap she said try looking at the front where all the shave cans are..oh yeah Gillette #$#$@ a men can get....
No she says its not there.. but I didnt walk away I check out the little shaving section. hey what is that a little display box of brushes..obvious not Badger but Boar.. hey Muhle Pinsel they look nice marmer fake nature stone look. price $7,50 oh well the Shave den has plenty of room.
I walked out of the shop with

I have received my ebay acquired super badger brush.
It has no branding or markings so I have no idea of what is the manufacturer,
but it looked promising and having it delivered from england to italy with a tube of arko soap that i was eager to try for 17 British Pounds looked a good deal.
Here it is as arrived, brand new:
http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/636/badgernewsidejpg9tj.jpg
http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/3964/badgernewtop7ns.jpg
and after a couple of shaves:
http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/3861/badgerside22uk.jpg
http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/7665/badgertop29tj.jpg
There is no comparison to my older Omega bristle brush (which is a nice bristle brush) but as everyone of you was saying badger is a different world.
Only defect:my bowl is too small for it...

That is the most unique handle material I have seen. What is it?
It is some kind of hard resin ,probably some acrilate.
It is a low price badger brush after all...
My hope is that most of its price went for the hair and workmanship, not on the handle.

Hi Dave,
Here (http://www.knoxcigar.com/dhatrco1.html). Interesting and pleasant stuff too! I wonder though, if you are looking for an orange fragrance and it is not a case of only Harris will do, if you would not enjoy the Caswell and Massey Number 6 (http://www.caswellmassey.com/jump.jsp?itemType=CATEGORY&itemID=87)?
