Well folks, today is the day I lose my straight razor virginity. It was going to be with my TI but that didn't work out. It's getting shipped off to get fixed.

This little bad boy showed up yesterday:

After the gym there will be a shower, and then go time. I have been saving my whiskers all week in antisipation of this moment.

Any last minute advice?

Just go slow and take it easy. Be sure to let us know how things went.

Nice razor! You will enjoy that razor quite a bit. I presume you had it honed.

It is now evening, I don’t think he lived through it. Does he know to go up and down, not across with the blade?:death:

Advice: Savor the moment.

You couldn't have picked a better razor either. Well, assuming it's properly honed of course...

Good luck. You're starting out with a very nice razor.

Haha! I am on Hawaii time.

The most dangerous blade, is a dull one. The gentleman that sold me the blade sounded like he was very proficient in honing, but I couldn't cut anything with this blade. My first pass and nothing came off of my face. I gave it a quick go on my arm and nothing would come off. I stopped and shaved with my Rocket HD. I guess I have to send this off to get honed. I need to learn how to do it on my own, but this isn't the blade to do it. I did pick up some less expensive razors to practice on, but there are so many stones and techniques I am overwhelmed by it all. I just need to read some more I suppose. Thanks for the responses everybody :)

Well I can assure you, you are a quicker learner than am I. Not knowing anything I kept hacking away for several days. “Hmmm, must be I need to pull the skin TIGHTER...” Laughable now looking back on it. Sharp is not shave ready. “Wid” is now my honemeister - when I get a razor back from Rick there is no HHT. All I have to do is THINK of doing a HHT and the hair pops right off.
