Hi I'm looking to splash out on a new fragrance, so far I like Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, Bleu de Chanel, I'd love to try some other vetivers maybe. I have a small decant of Aventus but it's too expensive for me to buy. I still like 212 and jpg le male but growing away from them. I'm 33 if that helps :)

Thanks Rob

I like both Grey Vetiver and Bleu quite a bit also, but find that I usually reach for Terre de Hermes parfum more often, so you might find you like that one also. The TDH edt is also nice, and a bit cheaper, but something about the parfum feels a bit fuller to me.

Since I think I enjoy the woody scents most, I also really enjoy Gucci Pour Homme I. It may or may not be discontinued, but it is still readily available at my local sephora. They'll give you a sample for free, I highly recommend it if you like cedar/woods kinds of smells.

Tough call, Rob. I also like Grey Vetiver, Bleu, Aventus, 212, but not Le Male. Many others here probably feel the same. I know Schad loathes Le Male:shifty:. I could name 100 other fragrances I like. The other guys who like the lot you mentioned could submit a list of 100 that looks significantly different. It's the YMMV thing.

For the sake of your request, and since we do seem to share at least some likes, here are a bunch that have really turned my head since I started this hobby last year (Aventus and Bleu de Chanel are on this list but they've already been identified) :

-- Terre d'Hermes (both EdT and parfum) and Voyage d'Hermes by Hermes ($)
-- Polo Blue by Ralph Lauren ($)
-- Allure Homme, Allure Homme Edition Blanche, and Allure Homme Sport by Chanel ($)
-- L'homme by Yves Saint Laurent ($)
-- Dior Homme, Dior Homme Intense and Dior Homme Sport by Dior ($)
-- Cologne Sologne by Parfums de Nicolai ($)
-- Mugler Cologne by Thierry Mugler ($)
-- 360 Red by Perry Ellis ($)
-- Sel Marin by Heeley ($$)
-- Comme de Garcons 2 MAN by Comme de Garcons ($$)
-- Sel de Vetiver by The Different Company ($$)
-- Wild Oud by Montale ($$)
-- Jubilation XXV and Dia pour homme by Amouage ($$$)
-- Neroli Portofino by Tom Ford Private Collection ($$$)
-- Back to Black by By Kilian ($$$)
-- Tirrenico by Profumi del Forte ($$$)
-- Rose 31 by Le Labo ($$$)
-- Wall Street, Coney Island, and Little Italy by Bond No 9 ($$$)

Cerutti 1881, Azzaro PH and Paco Rabanne PH. Il Profumo Vetiver de Java and Lubin's Le Vetiver. If Grey Vetiver wasn't out of reach then one of these could be also within budget limits. Off course, try first.

Another Grey Vetiver fan here also recommending you try Terre d'Hermes!

I love Voyage by Hermes and you may like that also, but it has very poor projection.

Creed Green Irish Tweed is great stuff.
Tom Ford Tuscan Leather
L'Occtaine Vetyver is spicy more than vetiverer (new word!)
I've really been enjoying Wild Fern lately too.

Thanks for the suggestions, it's still looking like Grey Vetiver I'm glad most of you like it too, I'll need to try and get a smell of some of the others especially Terrestrial d'Hermes by the looks of it. Grey Vetiver is in reach but the Creeds are a bit much for me to justify the price.
