This morning had what I'd probably reckon my second true BBS over the month & a half I've been at this wet/DE shaving thing.
I'm still really enjoying the process, and even more so as I get my hardware choices narrowed down and start slowly exploring new software!

Today's routine:
Soaked Semogue 620 in piping hot tap water (in clear glass Anchor bowl)
While using hot washcloth to prep face, and several drops of water to prep soap.
Shook all the excess water out, squeezed gently,
Loaded up some Crabtree & Evelyn Sandalwood for maybe 30 sec, swirling, spinning, & plunging.
Then worked up lather on face for a couple of minutes (in retrospect, first pass was too dry, though).
Using Merkur HD/Persona Red combo - WTG, followed by XTG, GTX, ATG, and even a final comfort pass WTG squeezing out the last lather.
Followed up with warm rinse, cold rinse, and then some Pinaud Clubman. Very nice... =)

I was surprised by the C&E soaps - I prefer Sienna's scent over the Sandalwood, and I'm very curious to try Nomad! (Anybody have some...?)

Thank you to all you B&B gents who have made this such a fun "hobby" to get into. It really helps having so many kind & experienced folks out there, not to mention all the fun surfing the BST and SOTD can be!

It is a great feeling when everything comes together isn't it?

I really enjoy using the C&E Sandalwood and face lathering. Great combo.

holy cow, the rarely seen 5 shave pass! impressive that you didnt get irritation! try to focus on technique and correct angles, you should be able to get a three pass BBS with practice (i..e WTG, XTG, ATG). congrats and keep at it.

Yeah, I know sometime "less is more," but sometimes I just enjoy the process so much I don't mind multiple passes. (I could be remembering incorrectly - I might've skipped WTG and gone right to XTG). With light pressure I really have no trouble - been a while since I've had any weepers or nicks. Which is crazy because when I first started I had them all the time with just a couple WTG/XTG passes!

I've been at it 3 months and I still look forward to it.... shaving that is. Thanks for the tip on C&E. I saw some at Garden of Eden in St. Paul, MN and was curious about it. Good to know some like it.

Dude, I still get excited with a great shave.
I occasionally like my Mantic59 multiple pass shave. There are only a few razor/blade combos that I can get away with. A 40's SS/Derby, Tech/Lab, and Slim on 3/SuperMax SP works great for those days I just want to go at it. I've learned what works though because I wouldn't pull 5+ passes with a Criterion NEW Deluxe or a NEW Improved.

I've been there and done that. While working on my lathering I would see how many passes I could get out of each loading of the brush even if I was beyond the point of getting my shave any smoother.

Well, we'll see how it goes - I ordered a C&E Nomad refill from echemist.co.uk for $8.83 shipped! The reviews of the site were spotty, but I figured I could risk that amount and I wasn't in a rush.

Congrats! I'm 5 months in and still easily excitable and waking up early to have a nice shave! My entire day seems better after a good shave.
